Seriously.. I find no other description that fits here with this ridiculous situation the media has created.

I now believe spear headed by ESPN that they want 5 nice and neat conferences. Consolidation of D1 football and they are trying their hardest to make Notre Dame seem like they have such an easy schedule and some magical advantage over other teams.

I say as fans the best thing we can all do is stop talking about it. Don't give it the time of day. It is nothing short of ignorance and self motivating on their part,
Is our schedule the toughest? No. Is our schedule the easiest? No. But this can be said of anyone in a year in and year out basis.
Teams can't possibly have the foresight of their competition 5 - 10 years down the road which is when a lot of these games are scheduled.

The funny part with all this is until they expand the Playoff the controversy will never stop. Let's say the Big 12 adds a championship game. Now there are 5 conference champ games and only 4 spots.

ESPN and their ignorance needs to be pushing for playoff expansion rather than pointing fingers at schedules.

Having said that what Notre Dame does that no other school does is they try and make a strong schedule made up of only D1 schools and by and large those are even very formidable schools. No D1AA schools or D2 schools as the week off game just to say hey we now play 13 games. They take pride in playing the same level of competition they always have. They have not succumbed to chatter of the extra game hoopla. I say great for the Dome and here, here ...stick to your guns because you should be the envy and class of college football wanting to play the best every week.

I'm not sure what you're specifically referring to. Other than people noting that ND can play a maximum of 12 games pre-bowl season, I haven't heard anyone ripping on our schedule.

Who on ESPN beside Arbuckle (mentioned by someone else as having been critical of the umass game) is dogging the schedule?

The point being on the schedule is that Notre Dame does not play 13 games pre bowl, but they do play 12 all D1 schools and try to do a good job of scheduling top teams on top of it all. To say they have an advantage based on their schedule as whole compared to other schools is ignorant at best when said schools slide in a D1AA game here and there...or actually some seemingly do it by design all the time.

Props to Bret Bielema on calling out the embarrassment that is Ohio State's schedule.

How could any idiot media member say ND has an advantage? The program travels from coast to coast each season. No other program goes from Boston to Palo Alto and South Bend to South Carolina an back with big time competition in GaT and USC waiting for them.

I called it months ago. If ND is good enough they will be left out because of politics and hatred. It's already starting.

This sidetrack talk about ND's sked will take care of itself when the Irish run the table (even 11-1). ND is a force this year and that is causing fear in the CFB world. Sit back and enjoy the ride - it's been a long time since we in this position.

We were in the position you were talking about three years ago. We were # 1 at the end of the season and set to play the National Championship game against #2 Alabama. People were all talking about our schedule that year too but we still got in.
And just think....if only K state can win that final game it was ND/KSU in the final NC game and I liked ND's chances in that one. Bill Snyder damn thee!!! HA HA

I can see how you would read that from what I wrote. But, my mind isn't on just getting to the dance - it is on winning it all. This Irish team has what it takes to win all the marbles.
