Notre Dame hosted Michigan three-star wide receiver commit Nate Johnson for an official visit this weekend, and according to contacts in both Johnson's camp, and in South Bend, things went well. Johnson arrived on campus Friday and stayed through Sunday with both of his parents. While the question many have asked relates to where Johnson stands on the board for the Irish, Blue & Gold Illustrated has been told that the wideout – as of today – has a spot waiting for him at Notre Dame, although that could change.

Johnson said on Wednesday that he plans to make a "final decision" on Feb. 3's National Signing Day and pick between Michigan, Notre Dame and Miami. @RivalsWoody was told early last week that Miami will likely be full, which means that the Hurricanes likely won't be an option for Johnson, which also might be the case at Michigan. The Wolverines hosted recent Oregon decommit Eddie McDoom this past weekend for an official visit and word out of Ann Arbor is that he could replace Johnson in Michigan's class.

While things remain very fluid with Johnson's recruitment, one thing remains clear on Sunday, and that's the fact that the official visit was positive. Johnson got plenty time with the coaching staff on the visit and even hit it off with graduate assistant Maurice Crum. One contact feels that the Irish have a strong chance at the flip regardless of what's happening at other schools.

It should also be noted that if Johnson elects to stick to his plan and not announce until NSD, that could work in favor for the Irish, with so many other top targets like Savannah (Ga.) Christian School five-star athlete Demetris Robertson not expected to make a decision until then. It's essentially giving the Irish time to sort things out.
