After recruiting day is over in February Notre Dame will have had four great recruiting classes in a row. 2012 was a very good recruiting class but we had so many of them leave the program that it ended up being a pretty weak class.
Last year we had a very good season and that was after only three great recruiting classes in a row. Now with four straight we will have even more overall talent and depth. It was since Holtz that we haven't had more than two great classes in a row---that was because of all the bad coaching and coaching turnover.

Next year Notre Dame has been blessed with a very friendly schedule including only three true road games.
We will also have three great experienced quarterbacks to help us navigate the season even with injuries.
Coach Sanford in his second year along with Kelly and Denbrock will be a HUGE plus for the QB'S and offense. The defense will be the most athletic defense Notre Dame has had since Holtz and no overmatched bighearted walkons at linebacker.

Clemson lost a bunch of their star players going into 2015 and many thought they would regress. That did not happen because of their great recruiting and having D. Watson with a full year of experience under his belt. I expect Notre Dame to have a year like Clemson in 2016 except I don't think the Irish will lose any games.

BVG will have the Irish playing great defense in 16 !! Many of us wanted Diaco gone after his first two years just like we want BVG gone now. Have faith my fellow Irish fans !! The Irish are back !! Too much talent !!
We have a Championship caliber Dline in Jarron Jones, Jerry Tillery, Isaac Rochelle, Daniel Cage, Andrew Trumbetti, Daelin Hayes, Kahlid Kareem, Grant Blakenship, Stephen Bonner, Mountain Dew Treadway, Brandon Tiassom, Elijah Taylor, Jay Hayes !!!

^^^ This is the secret sauce the Irish have been missing ! A deep and experienced Dline !

Bodi..............

OK.......so you are predicting 0 losses and a National Championship.

Could well happen IF:

ND wins these games as you predicted:

RAZOR THIN WINS!!!

28 to 24 over North Carolina State

24 to 23 over Stanford

34 to 30 over Navy

CLOSE WINS!!

27 to 17 over Michigan State

and
there are no "trap" games that sneak up on you (say a measly team like Miami that you've predicted ND will beat by 34 points!).

Otherwise it may happen like you predicted for 2015 with 0 losses. College football.........simply the best!

Well this might be true since Swarbrick dumbed down the schedule and USC being a dumpster fire. ND only plays 2 or 3 loseable games a year so 9 games is a layup. I think even Weis and Ty could win 10 games with 2016 schedule. Looks like 10 wins and another blowout bowl loss.

Hello turnovermachine. new handle I see

Thanks Ara -- Joe Schmidt is one of the good guys . I admire him a lot and he will be missed in a lot of ways .

Did you manage to use every single available font in this post?

How so trite and predictable. Yawn.

YES Bodi!!!!!! The 2016 ND team will need to be vastly improved on DEFENSE to improve on 10 wins. This will require commitment from the players and exceptional coaching from BVG, Elston, Gilmore & Lyght. I EXPECT to see it.

IRISH BABY!!!

I've read so much about Joe Schmidt this year and his sub par performance. Jack Swarbrick just revealed the best kept secret about ND Football this year. He said Joe played the whole season with a injured arm. He didn't give any information about the injury. It sounds unbelievable but I'll trust Jack on this one. It explains a lot to me. Pay attention starting around the 6:50 mark.

Then why the heck was he on the field if he was injured??

His play was not par. The other 80+ scholarship players were done a disservice if the Coaching staff was playing favorites.

The fact they felt they had to play Joe with a bad arm just further illustrates the extent of the problem getting one of the more athletic quicker younger linebackers up to speed in BVG's defense.

ND's D-line will only be deep in numbers. Outside the starters, the most talented members of the D-line will be freshmen in Okwara, Hayes and Kareem. The line will be really solid,if healthy, but it won't be excellent. It lacks good pass rushers that aren't freshman.... This would be a damn good defensive line if ND recruits well.

2018

WDE: Daelin Hayes (JR)
2. Robert Beal (Soph)
3. Julian Okwara (JR)

DT: Jay Hayes (5th year SR)
2. Elijah Taylor (JR)
3. Jerron Cage (SOPH)

NG: Jerry Tillery (SR)
2: Haskell Garrett (SOPH)
3. Micah Dew-Treadway (JR)

SDE: Khaled Kareen (JR)
2. John Bonner (5th year SR)
3. Josh Kaindoh (SOPH)

That's what an elite DL looks like... Big bodies inside. Elite pass rushers off the edge and 7+ bodies who can play in rotation.

Sorry , but he won't be missed on the field !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can greatly appreciate and admire Joe, and at the same time realize we need a higher level player in the middle of our defense if we are going to accomplish what we are trying to accomplish. Those are not mutually exclusive.

We were 8-5 just last year...

so we are going to be 9-4 team going forward instead of 8-4 with a quality loss to a good team in our bowl game?

Who dumbed you down?

This makes me wonder about Nyles Morgan. Is he that bad? I don't think I've seen him play a down as LB this past season. Special teams, yes … LB no.

Even in the Fiesta bowl … it was Coney, Smith and Schmidt until Coney and Smith went down with injuries … then Grace and someone else … no Morgan. Why?

It's weird. Morgan plays out of control so bad but the weird part is nearly everyone on that defense were out of control bad tacklers , bad angles.....etc.

So good question. Why

P.s.
I think I seen him play a few snaps against Navy or Virginia. Not much for sure.

Why jump to this notion when there has been no evidence about the severity of arm injury? Possible, it was considered a modest influence on his abilities.

It seems you jump from excess positivity to excessive negativity quite easily.

Why indeed; when VanGorder leaves players like Watson, Coney, and Morgan in his quiver instead of firing them at our opponents during the season. It clearly demonstrates his attitude toward using every weapon at his disposal. How many, players who could have helped the defense this year, stood on the sideline? I hope Coach Kelly has a long conversation with his defensive coaches this winter before spring ball begins. Adjustments need to be made or expect similar results next year.

Take a look at the top coaches (Saban, Meyer, Fisher, Swinney, etc.) and you will notice they will often play true freshmen and RS freshmen at times and occasionally even start them. Now why would they do that when they have stables of elite players? There are a couple of reasons: 1.) They realize some of their players will be leaving early for the Pro's so they might as well take advantage of their talent while they can and 2.) it sends a strong message to elite recruits that says it's possible at our school for freshmen to get playing time.

During his glory years Bobby Bowden was a trend setter by occasionally playing freshmen. And some of those young players went on to be record setters (Deion Sanders, Warrick Dunn, Marvin Jones, LeRoy Butler, Sebastian Janikowski, Scott Bentley, Terrell Buckley, Peter Warrick, Chris Weinke and a host of others.

Also, you may recall in the 2011 Champs Sports Bowl Coach Fisher player 5 freshmen on the O-line!
