None of the usual suspects will show their faces after this loss. How they can they still possibly defend this fool of a coach? What I want to know is what are the alums thinking? The movers and shakers at this school. What will it take to turn this thing around? I honestly can't watch this team anymore.

Good. The upcoming weeks will bring more anger and hopelessness with Stanford, Miami, USC, Navy and Virginia Tech on the schedule. ND is not a lock to beat any of them.
So, let me get this straight. It's the Irish fans who wanted to retain BK and hire a quality DC fault that ND lost the game today. Even though they have no power to hire or fire. It's still their fault. Glad we can clear this up.
If this is true .... I would like you to tell us that Texas, MSU, Duke, and NC State are just better than us .... we are losing to inferior teams ... period .

You'd be surprised who roams this board all day/night, one of ND's biggest boosters in the know with serious power who also doubles as a cabana boy for Shaw and his wife. Some big time dudes prowling this place. Not to mention he has been known to scout NFL talent camps in Cali.
And now the true child like BK hurt my feelings come out in all its glory from the "Never Kelly" crowd. I'm here dude. Not going anywhere. The fans who want a quality DC don't enjoy losing. I guess we are adults about it and place the proper blame on where it belongs. BK and to a lesser extent, the players. Fans and differing opinions have nothing to do with any win or loss. It's the players and the staff. Grown up men with child like brains would only blame other fans for a loss. See Cub fans and Steve Bartman. I no longer support BK after his performance today, but, I'm not going to cry like a little spoiled child about it every waking second.

Well my friend, circumstances change. By BKs dismal performance today, I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but no more. I'm not in his corner any longer but I'm not going to obsess about it either. Mainly because I have no power to do anything about it anyway.

First things FIRST
The question today is not about the NC Title - it's about defeating opponents (like NC State, and many ND opponents over the past 6+ seasons) who never recruit nearly as well as ND.
But, as to your point - no doubt in my mind that had (a coach like) Meyer come to ND, even with all of ND's academic (recruiting) restrictions - ND would be a consistent top-ten program, competing for a playoff spot - not repeatedly losing to opponents they no have business losing to.

This Coaching staff is putrid. It has been obvious for years. Tulsa told us ALL everything we needed to know. IF we were watching and paying attention. What we are seeing is just culmintion of all the shitty coaching since. No one here is REALLY shocked. Unless they lied to themselves.
I couldn't believe the way he berated his center after the early snap on the fourth down play - in public, in front of a national TV audience. He humiliated the young man for his error. The kid was embarrassed and upset enough without the lashing by Kelly. Who would want to play for a coach like that?
