Start out slow. Give up a couple of big plays. Miss a few tackles. Allow their QB to escape the rush. Keep them in the game for all of the first half. Temple is rated 62 in pass efficiency. Allow their passing game to be show cased and improve on that 62 number. Come out in the second half with an even better plan. Figure out the Owls offense and create some separation in the second half. Win by 17. The game is a lot closer than score indicates. A win is a win. Where am I going wrong?

ND is one of the 5 best teams in the country and very well coached . I would be shocked if Temple scores more than 17 pts - shocked . ND will score 30+ .

JMO but I would open with some underneath stuff and let things open up for CJ .

IF Kizer is as good as he has been ND wins by 21+ . Given Temple's pedigree or lack thereof there have to be some talent gaps at some of there defensive spots . Kelly and staff will know exactly where those spots are and given ND's talent level will exploit them .

Irish Jack - this is the first time ND has had a full compliment of talent on both sides of the ball since Holtz' teams of 1989-1993 . I think we are all a little jaded by the mediocre football we produced for 20 yrs which would make Temple a possible threat in ones mind . Temple has as good a shot of beating ND this week as they would have of beating Alabama or LSU not much . ND has ten + pros in their starting lineup .

Let me remind you if ND doesn't cough it up vs USC and Clemson they butcher both of them - I mean kick there asses ( that is a barometer for the level of talent on ND's roster ) . ND might win this week by 30 .

Yes, but there is the rub. I don't think ND is as well coached as some want to believe. They are always coughing it up. They are always getting delay of game penalties. They are almost always playing inconsistently.

Where are you going wrong? You seem to be following the wrong team. Find another team that plays the way you enjoy; you would be happier. There is no writing in stone that dictates you can't switch teams to follow. As some others believe, follow your bliss. The rest of us need not have to worry about you because of your stress level.

ND is 6 and 1 against the spread against the #19 sos in the country. That means they do better than the oddsmakers think they will.

IrishJack = A drunk Chicken Little

What does #62 pass efficiency really mean? Who have they played?

Temple is going to get crushed by the Irish. Georgia Tech, USC, Navy, and Texas would all easily beat Temple. I bet Virginia could also beat Temple.

The Irish will win something like 44 to 17. Or worse. This should be a massacre !!!

And YES the Irish will miss some tackles. Probably just to piss IrishJack off.

But they will make plays, too. Just like they always do.

I think it's pretty funny when the usual suspects pee their pants over comments on a free message board. It's worth it all.

Very true. Even during the Kelly Era ND's been up and down, good game/bad game/good game/bad game. I pray that ND's past all of that but will believe it when we beat Temple, Pitt, Wake and BC. In the past, ND would lose one of these games.

Bodi, don't take it personal. I enjoy your replies and comments, even the ones that take jabs at me. Its only a free forum and we all should have fun wasting time on here.

I think this is a game where we spread them out and let Kizer, Fuller, and company go to work. Also, lets not forget our beast in the backfield. I think this could be a statement win for us, but I am nervous based on recent ND history.

I don't think Temple will have the athletes to deal w all our weapons . If ND doesnt fumble @ the goa lline they would have put up 28 pts vs USC in a quarter and half . Temple will have their hands full Saturday . Also this is a homecoming for Will Fuller ( Philly ) he will want to put on a show . If Temple loads the box look for Fuller to have at least 2 huge chunks on the outside

Good point. That USC game was a phenomenal showcase of our talent.

Uh.... what rub are you watching??? 2013 Irish team?? 2014???

Either way, Irish beat Temple 48-17. How they arrive at that score is inconsequential.

The Irish should win this game comfortably, however, the AAC teams have been beating P5 teams this year and less than 2 years ago went tot he Fiesta Bowl and beat Baylor. Don't sleep on these guys. AAC teams are much better than the other group of 5 teams.

This is akin to Holtz being afraid of Navy back in the day. Ridiculous.

I commend the little Owls on beating everyone on their schedule to date.
Kudos and 'atta boys are well deserved. Good for the little guy to puff
his chest out for once, instead of taking the familiar path to the woodshed,
as they've been accustomed to doing.

Unfortunately, their schedule is not very impressive. They've beaten teams
that are comparable to themselves in the talent department. Put two mediocre
teams on the field - one of them has to win. Notre Dame in no way falls into
this category. Our team speed will overwhelm them.

This game is close ONLY if Brian Kelly allows it. Temple has no say in the matter.

Ole Miss didn't respect Memphis.
Va Tech didn't respect ECU.
Louisville didn't respect Houston.
Penn St didn't respect Temple.

Treat them like equals....and beat them senseless.

Memphis is just darned good!
I would not be sure of an Ole Miss W in a rematch as the teams are today. Ole Miss has injuries that make the D less imposing.

I refer back to the first half of UMass who had no business being in that game at all. BK and BVG themselves , as recently as post game USC, have commented on the same usual problems. Missed tackles, missed assignments, focus on your own job, slow start, giving up the damn big plays. When you have inconsistency like that, even a mediocre team can hang around. Then, add a turnover here, a drive killing penalty there, and before you know it, you have to fight it till the end. I trust the offense. They are not the issue.

There's a few exceptions, but that's consistent with what many top ranked teams have been done at various times this year.

Just throw the dam ball to kid from Philly - its his coming home party - time for a Heisman moment.

I've seen a lot of Temple, and a good bit of ND this year, and I think this is the best take here. ND has the superior athletes, although Temple's are better than you might think. I definitely think the Owls can stop ND's running game, but as you said, Fuller is going to burn them deep once or twice, probably enough to make the difference. By the way, Fuller's high school is just abut the halfway point between Temple's campus and the stadium, so I'm sure he'll be keyed up.

Temple's defense is very good - forget their conference affiliation. You will be surprised at how they disrupt what ND wants to do. But they haven't played a team quite as good ad the Irish all year, and certainly not against that type of receiver, and like I said, ND will be able to leverage their athletic ability to create a few big plays, and those will be the difference in an otherwise very even game.

This last guy sure had the game figured pretty well... ;)
