While a few ND fans embrace change many if not most resist changes vehemently. Meanwhile many changes have happened and the rate of change seems to be gaining momentum. Here are a few examples of change:

  • There was once a time when ND did not play any bowl games. That was followed by a time when ND would play some bowl games (depending on the opponent). Then it became a matter of voting to see if ND would play bowl games. Now days though, ND looks forward to playing all bowl games because the coaches and fans have come to realize it helps with recruiting and it allows the team to have more practices. So now days it is unlikely to see ND pass up a bowl game.
  • Not so very long ago posters on this very board insisted that ND did not need to recruit younger players (anything younger than HS seniors). Those posters said things like "We do not have to recruit younger kids because the best players come to us..........."We are ND.......etc." Now days ND is scrambling after younger and younger players (following in the footsteps of all the big time programs).
  • A few ND fans clambered for turf on the playing field while others resisted for years.
  • Some ND fans clambered for changes to the stadium much to the chagrin of others.
  • Today some ND fans are all in favor of a JUMBOTRON much like the other colleges in America. That would be the younger fans mostly. Right now it looks like they will have to wait until their numbers are in the majority. (But it will happen as change is inevitable.)
  • Recent changes have happened to the uniform: Decals on the helmets, different colored shoes, green vs. blue. There is now a realization that deals with equipment and apparel manufacturers is a multi-million dollar business. And very importantly, today's new recruits like the multiple uniform looks and changes.
  • And recently players that were caught cheating have been allowed to make amends and return to the team.
Yep, the times they are a changing. It always happens that way as the generations pass.

Soda pop.........Bwahahaha.........is that for real?

Of course, the really big change that is once again........inevitable, is ND joining a conference full time in football.

The 2 driving forces that I see for it are 1.) being able to play in a 13th, Conference Championship game and gain admission into the College Playoffs and 2.) making a lucrative broadcasting deal. Once the details of those proposals are worked out the rest should fall into place. The question is will it be with the ACC or some hybrid form of the future ACC or some other conference. Time will tell but it will happen. Some will live to see it while some may not.

[QUOTE="ShankIt, post: 1 You want to talk changes at ND? Let's discuss the things that stay the same at FSU............[/QUOTE]

Post #1. Argus right on cue with yet another new handle!

"Post #1. Argus right on cue with yet another new handle!"

Could be, but not every new poster is Argus either. Only time will tell.

So how many snarky ND threads are you going to start today?

Isn't about time for another fear G. Tech thread? :D

Hi Alice,

Nice to hear from you again. I think GT has been fairly well covered and Clemson as well. The biggie that really hasn't been discussed though is USC. I don't know much about the Trojans other than when I asked about the USC/ND game on the SC board most posters thought it would be a hard fought, close game but all of them thought SC would win.

If you have any thoughts about that game please share them.

On a side note, I think FSU is in for a rough year primarily due to the unsettled QB situation. That said, there is still a fairly good chance that FSU and ND just might end up in a bowl game together. That would really put an exciting finish to the season. Anyway, lots of possibilities especially for ND this year. Best to you and yours.........always good to hear from you.

Hallelujah!

Never got why you felt the need to post on and on about GT's offense and coach being that the Irish are very familiar with both.

SC talk in July? I'm more interested in the up coming football camp and Texas.

I'm also wondering if the Irish take care of business how your blood pressure will hold up. :D
