I thought with all of his experience playing last year as a true frosh that he would have a really good chance of starting this year. It appears that Coleman and Elliot are currently working with the first team. I realize it is very early but just wonder why he isn't a starter. I thought he played fairly well last year just out of high school. Is it a scheme issue? Any thoughts?

Agree with you 53. I think it was a combo of no real options at safety last year and Studstill enrolled early and must have done well in practice. Think it started as more of a punishment for Redfield but then ended up playing out of necessity. There are more talented guys on the roster and it seems he will be passed up.
Let's not write the kid off. Elko can coach him up. He may well be needed at some point.
I think Elko's defense requires a bigger faster harder hitting type player here. I don't think they've settled yet on who will start. I was really impressed with Love's play last season, and as NDIrish 53 suggested, would not be surprised if Love moves from second string corner to starting safety. Here we have a perceived position of weakness for this team, and last year's starter is only a sophomore who played exceptionally well for a true freshman, and he may not even be in the two deep.
Fertita is the best safety we have. He is a legit football player. Robertson looked good. The other guys are athletes that cant hit or tackle.
