Stu,
I laid this letter last night at the Wall during our annual Memorial Day pilgrimage to DC
It is one that I have left behind before, but no better time than now to do it again

On being asked for a War Poem

I think it better that in times like these
A poet's mouth be silent, for in truth
We have no gift to set a statesman right;
He has had enough of meddling who can please
A young girl in the indolence of her youth,
Or an old man upon a winter’s night.

God bless the Fallen for our Country
May they rest in peace
God bless those who serve our Country May they have the strength to follow those before them
God Bless America

DIP -- thank you my friend. Yeats' words still ring true. Thinking of my Uncle Arthur who died in the Battle of the Bulge, my father's older brother who I never met but who I still think of on Memorial Day. My father tells the story of playing in his front yard and watching the Priest walk up the street, hoping that he wouldn't turn into his driveway...

At one point he had four older brothers in service fighting WW2. He served in Korea.

God Bless Those Who Serve Our Country. God Bless America.
