The ACC went 8-3 in Bowls this year, best in the country. The ACC also went 17-9 against Power 5 teams for the entire season, best in the country. Bowl Season has shown that the ACC was the best Conference in the country. Notre Dame would only make it even better. Not to mention everybody (including Notre Dame) makes more money. The ACC is already by far the best Basketball league in the country and could end up with 11 or 12 bids to the dance this year. So with all that in mind do you guys still want to maintain your Football independance?

I'm a class of 79 ND alum, and have been against joining a conference most of my life, BUT I've been saying for at least the last few years that ND should ABSOLUTELY join the ACC full time. So I'm with you Schmidty. It is the best BB conference and a totally formidable FB conference Year in and year out, and yes the best this year top to bottom. So yes it's time

The ACC kicked ass this year with a possible NC.
That's this year!
And yes I do not want the Irish to join the ACC in football,
There is nothing Atlantic Coast about Indiana

The ACC stretches all the way up the East Coast into the Northeast.

Schmidty Nole ,

Right now ,I like the idea of a national schedule . We only have to play 5 ACC games ,then Stanford ,USC, Navy, after which we can schedule 4 games , home and away games against Oklahoma ,Texas,Georgia, TCU , Michigan State , ,Michigan ,Purdue etc

In the ACC , we would have to play 8 games plus 3 games with long time rivals Navy,USC, Stanford , leaving one game with a mid major.. We would be locked in .

Until college landscape changes .ND win or lose would be better off with being an independent

Yes, if the playoff format remains the same indefinitely. No, if they expand to an eight team format, with five conf champs and three at large berths. Right now, stay independent.

Point is Indiana is not so geographically separated from the East Coast that Notre Dame wouldn't fit in. Obviously Notre Dame like playing all over the country. We used to do that too. But times change. Once the Big 12 adds their Championship game then every Conference Champion will have played 13 games. Notre Dame will have played 12. Maybe that won't be a factor but I think it will.

The ACC does nothing to elevate Notre Dame football.
I got an Idea why doesn't FSU go independent?
Conference champion ships are over rated as we've seen this season.

How so? One team has made the Playoff in the first three years that didn't win its conference. And they got beat 31-0 while the team that beat them and did win its conference is leading the Rose Bowl. The only way for a team to not win a conference and make it in is if they are UNEQUIVOCALLY one of the four best teams in the country. The committee made the determination that Ohio State was in the face of much controversy. My opinion is it will be much harder in the future to meet that threshold.

It is clear the playoffs will expand aka money getting in the way.
When it evolves to 8 teams conference champions will be a mute point.
ND is an Independent PERIOD

Why would we care that "fsu used to do it too" when talking about playing a nat'l schedule? Explain why ND gives a f@;k about what FSU did in the past? Times changed for FSU and they joined a conference. That's nice, but we don't care what other schools do in terms of being an independent. Don't know why rival fans give a $h1t. Take your ACC membership and jam it.

Bowl success is rather cyclical and is often heavily dependent upon matchups.

The ACC ended up with two top teams in Clemson and FSU. A good season certainly but I wouldn't call it a trend.

Except if Notre dame joined the acc they would ruin the out of conference record

Louisville's not on the coast, either. Conferences have teams all over nowadays. Look at West Virginia, in the Big 12. Not to mention the AAC, which has teams ranging from Texas to Florida to Connecticut.

Never, the only way I would ever be in favor of ND joining a conference is if it were a national conference made up from teams coast to coast. Say you start with ND and Texas then fan out. Not saying it could ever happen or I would be in favor even then for sure. ND's thing has always been they Don't play for conference championship s they play for the natty. If ND were to join a conference I would see it as a white flag.

I'd like to join. It's a great conference, and moreover, the lack of a conference championship would've likely kept us out of the playoff in 2015, if we'd beaten Stanford. Because it was clear the committee was favoring Oklahoma for the 4th spot, even before we played Stanford.

When playoff expantion happens conference championship wont matter as much.

Louisville join due to lack of options as many teams who couldn't survive on their own
If NDs hand is forced there will be options

And you think Notre Dame Could/Would Survive on its own Without a conference to park its other teams in!?!?!?!?

The Irish WOULD Die if the other schools across the nation told them to either join a conference, or NO Teams across the nation will play you in ANY Sports!!!

Something to think about!!!
