Came back from 17 point defecit to win in OT. Oregon has the best QB in the country. Stanford has a dangerous trio in Costello, Love, and Whiteside. Going to take a lot of game planning on defense. If Dexter Williams ever wanted to make up for his bad deeds. Having a stellar game against Stanford would help.

Stanford is likely the only top 10 team the Irish will face the rest of the way. It's a must win if ND wants a shot at the playoffs. Thankfully, it's at home. Maybe there is a lesson in Stanford's comeback win over Oregon for Notre Dame. Just because you get down early in a hostile environment doesn't mean you have to fold like a house of cards (see Miami last year). Stick to your game plan, keep playing hard and don't panic and maybe things will work out for you. I know the Shaw haters are out there, but the guy gets more out of less than the guy roaming the sidelines for Notre Dame. Let's hope Stanford is spent from this game, so that the Irish can pull one out and stay in the playoff hunt.

Yes, what Stanford did so well was not flinch and just hang in there. It's a 60 minute ball game and a lot of coaches forget that and when they are down multiple possessions they panic and it bites em in the butt.

ND is going to have to take calculated risks on defense. Know when to stuff the box, know when to blitz, and know when to put two guys on Whiteside and play bracket coverage. Frustrating to watch, but with Whiteside Costello just lobs the ball and Whiteside comes down with it. Can't leave the corners playing one-on-one and expect them to break the pass. They will need safety help.

Tua might be a bit better. I’ll take either him or Herbert. Bronze medal = Book :).

Shaw is a much better coach than bk

Let’s be honest, Oregon lost this game more than Stanford won this game. The poor snap that resulted in the 80 yard defensive TD is just part of the game, but the decision to run the ball with 51 seconds on the clock instead of taking a couple of knees was stupid, and the resulting fumble gave Stanford the chance to tie, and then win the game. We would be crucifying Kelly under similar circumstances. This Stanford team looks like the Stanford that beat us last year. Costello is very accurate and knows how to use his huge receivers, Love is a threat every play, and the team is physical. Should be a great matchup.

Exactly. Love this matchup for the ND defense.
