So What Does Hartman Do?

Better pure passer than Buchner for sure. Not much of a threat running the ball

what was evident was is that there is a a genuine relation between TB and MF. But that won’t keep TB from injury!

Nope.

But I can now see Buchner being the guy

3 warm up games before OSU, I play whoever you think has more potential to win by game 4

10 months of practice and 3 more games.....maybe Buchner
It's more of a competition than most on this board want to admit for sure

He comes to ND and starts..
no more 2-3 picks a game and spotting other team 14-21 points
Na he comes to ND and competes.

QB room suddenly goes from zero to hero after Buchners nice showing tonight.

You got a #165 overall prospect coming in who is really polished, you got a potential Ian Book-like tweener in Hartman who is battle tested and experienced but maybe lacks upside, and then you got Buchner, a gifted high 4-star prospect who is getting better and better it seems.

Will be interesting to follow the QB battle all off-season. We're going to need multiple QBs if Buchner wins the job.

edit: Minchey is the #165 prospect, not a top 150 prospect my bad

nice showing
what a a crock
But then from a Uscum fan like you, you want a turnover machine as the ND QB.

He played in the ACC; not a mid major. He would be a huge upgrade and would make us preseason top 10.

Great game from TB, it really was. But hardly the transcendent performance to somehow queer the deal with Sam Hartman at the last minute. Assuming of course that it's all ready to roll and an announcement is forthcoming and imminent.

I will say that the thought of TB the athlete and running QB is so enticing. He'd be like our version of Jayden Daniels....

Hartman is a solid player in a solid system responsible for putting up big numbers, etc. and he'll be a nice addition to fall camp for sure. But Tyler Buchner has a whole other level of upside to his game if everything clicks.

The offense was much more dynamic with Buchner than Pyne. So imagine if a way more polished passer is pulling the trigger. I’m not a big Buchner fan. If NDwsnts to go 9-3 he’s the guy. But he is not a playoff caliber guy. Hartman has a higher floor.

Agreed. But Buchner has the higher ceiling

Do you want to play it safe or possibly go for it

Either guy should get ND to 3-0 going into the 9/23 matchup with OSU. Buchner if and it’s a big if can become a more disciplined passer and mitigate interceptions, he definitely has a higher ceiling IMO. You can see his potential and the potential for the O if he’s playing well the run game and passing game will be very hard to stop due to his abilities in both facets (if improved passing).

The majority of the top teams seem to have a guy that can hurt you with their feet as well as their arm.

This is how I feel

Because of that 3 game stretch, I want Buchner to win the job. He'll have 3 games to get ready and get experience. If things are clicking, the offense will be more dangerous with him at QB

IF EVERYTHING CLICKS WHICH IT NEVER HAS BEFORE
The delusion of some here about TB is awesome
The worst thing to happen to him would be to start- the fan base would tear him apart after enough Pick 6's
WHICH HE CLEARLY would have a lot of

like the Williams kid, but maybe a less accurate and less arm strength; but he has that dimension. And he looks like a freakin choir boy!

TB’s 3rd game, fellas. Keep some perspec… oh nvm it’s game day and we’re talking QB 1 at Notre Dame; there’s never any perspective in either situation.

Btw I 100% and have always been supportive of Tyler as the starting QB. He’s tough as frrrr as a runner and will only get better as a passer.

I think TB is going to be a star at ND. The first pick 6 was a tipped pass that could happen to anybody, he’ll, it happened To Pyne three or four times a game. The second one was just stupid on the QB and OC.
