So how many Georgia fans will be in stadium today?

2 many.

Atlanta Falcons playing in here Chicago Sunday too - a lot of fans making a huge weekend and going at it hard for a couple of days around here. I think they may drink themselves to death before the game starts.

Have you videos of the Cubs game last night? At least 8,000 were there.

It will be extremely disappointing to if ND fans have sold out and let a bunch of Dawg fans get in there. Notre Dame stadium is not looked at as a tough place to play and that's unfortunate. I'm a huge ND fan that has been to many games and I hate to say it but that place is weak when it comes to a home field advantage.

I saw pictures this week of ND Stadium from 2000 Nebraska. The whole stadium was red. I was 19 years old. Great game to watch on tv but its embarrassing to see again and hope we aren't selling out again. It is not if this is an unwinnable game.

That is the number the athletic association was given. At least 20K, but thinking closer to 30K.

Yes. He was asking about the ticket allotment, which was 8,000.

I wasn't challenging your estimate. I live in Chicago and have seen your ilk roaming my sidewalks, I have no doubt that you'll have a lot of people there. Did you miss my earlier post?

I would add that in 2000 when the stadium was filled with Nebraska fans (some say 30,000) Nebraska's allotment was only 4,000. So we know that opposing fans get tickets from a variety of sources. We play lot of teams that have fans that travel well. Plus, after last year's season, we had a lot of season ticket holders decide not to renew, leaving more tickets available for the allotment. That's why the question of the allotment is of interest to some ND fans.

If 25,000 Georgia fans are in that stadium it will continue to support the narrative of ND being an easy place to play for a visiting team. Judging by the fans we sat by last week vs. Temple who either spent most of their time on their phones or were over the age of 75...that doesn't help either. Pretty sad on all accounts.

I live in Chicago as well. It's been an interesting weekend. Hoping for a great game gents! No injuries and a battle.

ND has a great home field advantage. Now that there is a jumbotron it is even better. Many ND fans seem to have an inferiority complex. What fan base doesn't have old fans and people on their phones during the game? GA got 8K tickets. They will be able to buy additional tickets and will pay out the wazoo for them. The stadium holds roughly 77 to 78K. If GA has 16K (double their allotment), the Irish still have a 60K to 16K advantage. Enjoy the atmosphere and the Dawg fans. This is the type game that makes college football fun. Go Irish!

Statement from the campus tailgate:

"There are a quite a bit of UGA fans no doubt. More then usual. But ND fans blow them outta the water numbers wise."

Just saw an article that a lot of UGA fans their tickets from a ticket broker didn't make it to them. Sounds though that a lot of ND ticket holders are selling theirs for a premium.

Not possible for a Georgian. Like the Irish (hell many of them are Irish as well) they are professional drinkers. Food, vomit, sleep and start binging again.

According to the article, 800k Georgians claim Irish heritage. 2nd only to England. I assume many a Scots Irish football fans from the Peach State will track north to see The Mecca.

I'm guessing you haven't been to a game in SEC country if you think the 60,000 ND fans will be louder than the 16K Georgia folk. Hope I'm wrong and a clear homefield advantage starts being established at ND...but experience tells me differently.

Google says the capacity is 81,000. A loud, raucous 25 - 30,000 Georgia fans will go a long way toward negating the ND home field advantage. I suspect that you have a lot of "wine and cheese" fans. Sanford Stadium holds 92,000 and it was sold out for last year's spring game with lots of folks turned away. The players respond to rabid fan support.

It appears as many Irish have said, UGA is not as hot a ticket for them as it is for UGA. If you can sell your tickets for $600- $2,000 each and the game is just another game you might do so. It's entirely possible that UGA has 20,000 top 25,000 in that stadium.

I'm sure the Georgia fans will make themselves heard.

I think the Google info hasn't been updated - we removed a little over 3000 seats with the recent stadium upgrade. Doesn't change the main point though, you're fans will still be heard. They've been getting warmed up around town this week.

I just went to the campus crossroads site and was looking at different camera angles of the stadium and saw way more UGA fans outside the stadium walking around than irish fans. one side of the stadium had at least a few dozen or more UGA fans standing around a large tour bus

Uncle Money, your guess would be incorrect. I've been to many SEC games my whole life as I live in the heart of SEC country. You may believe that SEC fans are louder than everyone else. That's OK. It just doesn't happen to be accurate.

That's because they were on the other side, welcoming our players (who, unlike the other team) were not running late.

As far as the crowd goes this is sea of red part II. I find this quite embarrassing and I have yet to make it to South Bend for a game. Going to feel like a road game on offense. Do ND fans return the favor in Athens in a few years? They traveled well to FSU a few years ago, what was the turnout like in Texas last year?

I just saw the a view on the crossroads site that showed basically the same image with one whole side of the stadium being mostly all UGA fans

Why shouldn't ND fans sell the tickets? ND is closer to being Navy now then they are Alabama. I'd say they've been to enough disappointments the last 25 years and at some point, you just don't care as much as you used to.

If Notre Dame was still "Notre Dame," you wouldn't be seeing those pictures tonight. The product on the field the last 25 years is infinitely more disappointing than those pictures. I'm not going to blame anyone for saying screw it, I'll make some money.

Hate it all you want, the reality is what the reality is.

If you've been to a Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, A&M, South Carolina, etc...for a big game I can assure you my belief that those stadiums are louder is accurate. Part of it is poor play, I get it. But the ND fan is not as "rabid" as it used to be. And it doesn't currently measure up to a key SEC game. Guess we will agree to disagree.
