I promise you when I say I'm very optimistic when it comes to ND Football. I'll be one of the first (minus Bodi) who see a game like Temple and think ND is winning it all. As Lee Corso would say "Not So Fast!"

In 2012 in Golson's first start the Irish looked like world beaters trouncing a Navy team in Ireland. A first time starter Golson led ND to 50 pts in the opener and the D looked new and improved. In the 2nd game of the year against Purdue (my al mater) they struggled on offense to score points and defense started to look pedestrian. We know how the rest of the season went but there were some games that made us hold our breath.

In 2015 first time starter Malik Zaire and the Irish put a whooping on a Texas team in ND stadium. The defense again looked like a wrecking crew in the win. However in game 2 at UVA the offense was out of sync and the defense was against the ropes for much of the 2nd half. Kizer later comes in to save the day.

What do we see in the 2nd game of '17? Wimbush wasn't perfect but he really brought a much needed spark. There are so many weapons for this team on offense. The defense had lapses but definitely showed grit! I'm trying to temper my enthusiasm, but with a 3 headed monster at RB and a O-line acting as road graters it's hard to see the 2nd game slump. I see a close game in score against the Bulldogs but ND controlling the game.

Good obeserations and I pretty much agree. However, I think Georgia will have NDs complete focus. The Irish know this game is big and it's against a very very good SEC opponent. Marybe in 2012 and 2015 the Irish were a bit overconfident. I really doubt that will be the case this time. Like you stated I think it will be a close game. If the Irish play clean I like their chances. It will not be easy. Georgia will laser focused. This will be very intense game.

I think that this being a Home game and it is against a National power (semi) will make a big difference. In 2015 we had a great team (Too bad we had BVG) and we looked great first game against Texas but then layed an egg against Virginia (not a national power) and it was on the road. And I think the Irish held back some in the passing game against Temple. I think we will see a couple of screens to CJ Sanders and a few other things we did not see for Georgia.
I also see Elko setting up some tricks to create some turnovers from Georgias freshman QB.
Go Irish !! Crush Georgia !

That 2015 squad was national championship material in my opinion. If we had mike Elko in 2015 we would have been a playoff team no doubt. F in Brian Van Gorder.
