SEC officiating crew assigned to the National Championship
This year's crew also worked the Fiesta Bowl

Figured that would be the case. Big 12 and ACC did the semis. I never worry about officials. That's an incredibly difficult job and I honestly dont believe in settings like this that any crew has an " agenda".![]()

Disagree. Kelso who frequents this board is a long time respected official here in Ohio. I'd love his opinion. I know a couple of guys, one a long time Big 10 official. He understands fans reactions because it's an emotional reaction. He also said guys that don't measure up are weeded out quickly. Tough, tough job that I would never want to do.just incompetent and biased
That's an emotional reaction. Do you realize how hard it is to get to that level and stay there ? I have tremendous respect for all officials at every level. It's a thankless job. Someone is always unhappy. Do they get every play right ? Of course not they're human but the percentages are pretty damn high or they're out of a job.just incompetent and biased
Don't care. They are all too often wrong. Carry all the water for them you want but it will not change reality. That's an emotional reaction. Better than the B10![]()

I think your last line is accurate, but I would add, "but believing that the refs always have it out for INSERT YOUR TEAM'S NAME HERE" is ridiculous too.A referee “never having an agenda” is a tough pill to swallow. They are flawed people, not robots. The idea that every one of them can be impartial is laughable. I’m not saying it’s not a tough job, but blindly accepting there’s no bias or agenda is a bit naive, imo.

While I agree with you, the failure to call the targeting penalty on Texas was a travesty. That's an emotional reaction. Do you realize how hard it is to get to that level and stay there ? This captures my thoughts re. officials in general. However, I thought the officiating at the Orange bowl was noticeably biased. Something as fundamental as placing the ball after a tackle was ROUTINELY placed a foot or so back on nearly every ND run. I appreciate that spotting the ball can be difficult in certain plays, and I’m usually impressed with how accurate they are in making these judgements. But damn, I thought one official in particular grabbed every opportunity to move the placement back against ND.Figured that would be the case. Big 12 and ACC did the semis. probably the best we could do.This captures my thoughts re. officials in general. However, I thought the officiating at the Orange bowl was noticeably biased. Frankly, I’m pleased we have SEC officials for this game.
The answer is to have a national officiating association. There's plenty of money to go around to hire full-time professional refs.its more incompetence than bias
as I said, its a truly LOUSY job and only a certain group is willing to do it. Its a small group so you are not going to get much quality
It has always OFFENDED me that the NFL, arguably the richest professional sports league in the world, will not have full time officials. The answer is to have a national officiating association. There's plenty of money to go around to hire full-time professional refs.
