I am so excited that I actually signed in to post something. This game is huge. It will shut up the haters and give us confidence going into our tough stretch of games. Every week our defense is getting better and learning the system and Wimbush is gaining more experience as a starting QB. We win if our o line dominates and our defense contains the big play. Cant have too many 3 and outs. Gotta keep our D fresh. Feel free to respond with anything you would like to add. Criticism of our team is fine and expected from a fan base but lets keep the negativity to a low. Kelly and company seem to have made a lot of changes from previous years. People wanted Kelly to run more and he has. People hated the DC and he went out and got a new one that was not one of his buddies. He made a good football decision as a HC. Lets get excited for this Saturday and watch our team physical dominate the Trojans.

UOJ will stack 8 guys on the line of scrimage and force BW to throw. Only chance for ND is to out score them. The Irish havent seen team speed like this all year.

Limit USC's big plays and protect the football.

It’s gonna a be nice night.... and already noticed U$C fans in town.. And it’s Monday.... So let’s hope .. people haven’t sold there tickets..

I love the electricity and tension that a big game brings on Monday. I taste the fear expressed by some and the animal passion that is aroused by others. My knees and lower legs are shot to hell and this 63 year old body is pretty much spent; but I would love just one more taste of battle. It would be so great to live 1973 one more time. Saturday night is about giving every ounce of energy, sweat, and blood on that field for 60 minutes for a lifetime of memories. I don't care where you watch that game from; give it all to the Irish. Make it a game for the ages because YOU invested your entire being into that game. Go Irish and SMASH USC.

USC week is always huge to me, regardless of rankings. I'm nervous as heck. Weather very good. This is going to be fun.

I was totally excited, now I don't know if I'll be able to go. They moved a large system conversion into this weekend and now it looks like I'll be working. I may have one ticket available if anyone is intrested (face value ND fans ONLY), if you don't mind hanging out with my friends lol. I'll know by Thursday for sure.

I hope you are right. The only thing that is in NDs way is bk. He doesn't seem to be able to win the big ones. We shall see.

Coach Elko with two weeks to prepare for USC makes me smile.
Julian Love said postgame after his pick six at Michigan State that Elko had the corners practicing jumping the routes all week. Darnold is turnover prone and Elko has the Irish defense at a highly opportunistic level.

Agree. Having the bye week before this game is huge.

Anyone know BK's record after a bye week? I know, different staff. Different players. Different attitude. Just be interested in knowing so I can sound "Herbie" smart at the tailgate Saturday.

Um... USC hasn't seen speed like ND all season. ND essentially outplayed a much tougher Georgia team and would win that game 5/10 times played.

This is a different ND team. Georgia proved that. People are forgetting GA game and just remembering it as a L. This team is just as good now as if they won that game. If they had they'd be top 8 right now. That close of a loss to that team is just as good as a win in my view in regards to this teams potential.

I am sorry, which game were you watching when nd played uga? nd outplayed uga? uga was playing on the road, far from home and had true freshman playing who had no experience. uga out out gained nd on the road 326 to 266. the only reason uga could not pass the ball too well is because the qb was brand new to college football. the guy has never really played college ball. uga completely out gained nd on the ground 185 to 55. and uga would have had a lot lot more yards but the refs penalized them for a whopping 126 yards. and even with all those penalties they still out outplayed and outscored nd. these are pretty mucvh facts, so please do not get insulted.

I think the irish are better than usc this year. sc has way too many injuries in all areas. if sc is at full strength I would say it would be a pick em. but with the state sc is in right now nd will probably win. but you did not out play uga at all.

Heading to Europe Saturday night during the big game. Hopefully Air Lingus will have WiFi and then we can celebrate in Ireland. Enjoy, Go Irish!

Georgia is as fast or faster then USC at most spots. I do agree only chance to win is to outscore USC

USC is very fast, but they are generally not a super physical team. They do play very well on d when they are totally healthy. They have one of the best defenses in the country, but they have had so many injuries this year that the play has been a bit sporadic. I dont think it is usc's talent on d necessarily. I think Clancy Pendergast is a very talented dc. He is more talented than our oc, tee martin. To me, we should be a lot worse on d with all the youth, inexperience and injuries we have had. I thought the d this year would be a year a way from being really good. The depth along the dl and de is really thin right now. Even the guys who are playing are totally banged up and are barely making it through games. Many are hardly practicing at all and then just playing in the games.

ND should pound sc on the ground for the whole game. Over time nd will get some good yardage. They may not break too many long plays because it is very hard to outrun usc, but they can average 5 or 6 yards a carry by the time the game is over. ND will need td's in the red zone. But sc is really hard to score on when teams get inside the 10. Our dc is that good.

The offense at usc has been injured quite a bit as well. Against wsu 2/3 of starters were either out completely or playing with real injuries. It was ridiculous. I think both starting tackles are going to play this week, but I am not sure. We also lost a 4 year starter at guard and last year we had 3 starters go pro. But the guys we brought back this yr were generally very experienced and talented. But you cant lose 3 to the pros and then 3 more to injuries and be dominant. We have had true freshman starting at two spots at different times this year. If we are fully healthy minus the one guard, we do have a very good OL.

I would not suggest stacking the box against sam darnold, nor would I would recommend dropping 8 in to coverage. They guy is so talented and can get out of any jam. I would simply mix it up on d like texas and wsu did. They kept running unusually complex schemes and shifting at the last moment or even right at the start of the play. A good dc can really slow down sam darnold. It made it very hard for sam darnold and the Oline to read the defense and so they could not play that fast. Darnold is uber talented but very raw when ti comes to reading defenses. So if you a run a good scheme it will slow him down. He also is a gunslinger who takes huge risks, but he will come in the clutch. His feet and pocket presence are amazing. If he catches fire for whatever reason, he is almost impossible to stop. He is total winner. Best 4th quarter qb I have ever seen at usc. But we have a lot of inexperience and youth at the wr position this year so that has made it tough on him as well. Out top te has been out to and he and is beast. Some of those guys are now back from injury and others have matured so the wr core is actually pretty good right now.

I think nd is deeper and more veteran than usc this year and I think the coaching at nd is better this year. Plus it is a home game. So ND by 11.

USC vs Georgia. Who wins?
at home with sc at full strength, probably usc by 1 point. with usc's current injuries, uga. anywhere on a neutral field or at uga, then uga wins and possibly wins by a lot. uga has really improved this year now that the qb is getting experience. and eason is back as well.

Sorry Tan, I decided let a friend use them and take his 12 year old kid a huge ND fan never been to a game before.

Bodi... it feels good to be back in your good graces. A lot of people often over look the importance of outscoring the other team when breaking down a game.

In a 20-19 game late in the 4th with ND on the march and UGA makes a play to cause a fumble then it's safe to say that neither team outplayed the other - one team made a play at a time in the game that sealed it. It could've gone either way and it went to UGA.

Sat night we will see if Kelly was meant to be a principal and not a teacher. These last five games should be his report card.
