Root for Sparty?

I know it's difficult to root for Sparty, but if they win at Ohio State on Saturday that would likely lift the Irish to #3. Wouldn't it be more difficult for a Big 12 team to jump the Irish if they weren't in the #4 spot if the Irish win out?

Hell yeah. Sparty is probably my favorite Big 10 team so I always hope they beat up on OSU and Michigan when it doesn't hurt ND.

I actually don't mind MSU. OSU is a bigger threat at the moment so its best to root for MSU regardless of one's feelings about them.

I think the best case scenario is Michigan winning the B10 by beating OSU, but we don't know if that will happen so I'd rather not risk OSU getting to 11-0.

To be honest, I don't think the outcome matters too much for this game. I believe if MSU were to win this, and go on to win the BIG, they would jump us. Of course, if they lost to Penn St after winning this game, that would help us tremendously, but I wouldn't count on that.

The best case scenario that could reasonably happen is still for OSU to win this game, Michigan to beat them next week, and Michigan to beat Iowa in the BIG title game. No chance they would jump us in the rankings, and that would put us in the playoff for sure if we win out.

I actually quite like Sparty. Will certainly be cheering for them.

Though Yooper nailed it in regard to the best case scenario.

Heck yeah! If Sparty upsets OSU this week it would be huge. It would mean that the only Big 10 team with a chance to move ahead of ND is Iowa, if they both win out.

Baylor is the other big one, other than TCU who I highly doubt is beating OU.

Others that would be big are USC, Stanford, Temple and Navy.

If Iowa or MSU run the table, then I'm guessing that an undefeated or a one-loss Big 10 team would probably be placed over Notre Dame anyway.

I think Ohio State is going to whoop Sparty on Saturday. It is doubtful that Cook plays, and he is their only hope for an upset.

us irish fans also have to cheer for tcu this weekend and for whoever plays Oklahoma st

A 1 loss Sparty would need some breaks to keep out a 1 loss ND I believe. Though it would be a tough decision for the committee.
