So how long do you wait? Just go with the flow till someone magically appears that checks all the boxes and wants to come to ND? Imo, if Notre Dame loses to Army there is no way Kelly keeps his job.

So hire some head coaching neophyte who may make the program worse? We've gone down that path before with no success (Brennan, Faust, Davie, Weis). As I said before, no thanks.

All of those you listed had 0 head coaching experience. All those I listed do. Nice try though. Again I'm not saying they should be hired but considered.

Three to four years head coaching experience at places like Western Kentucky are head coaching neophytes when talking about the unique demands of the ND head coaching job---in effect no real difference than Weis or Davie (who at least had ND connections and familiarity with the program). You may think that coaching three years at Western Kentucky makes someone qualified for ND, but you won't find many who agree with you. Again, no thanks.

That's exactly my point. I'm not defending Kelly's coaching job this season---in fact I thinks it's been awful. But I just don't see a realistic candidate out there--at least at this point---who would be an improvement. Again, I think all of this is moot since I'm virtually certain Kelly will be back next season.

We will have a fresh perspective and with that new hire will be a person who wants to do it the right way. There is no way we get the coach is 100% perfect

So you believe retaining Kelly is the more viable option? I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on that. Hopefully ND can get a Schiano or Peterson but if they can't I'd much rather take a shot at a young up and comer than sticking with the status quo.

Good question -- how long do you wait? For arguments sake, assume that ND does indeed, lose its last 3 games to finish with its dismal record.

Diaco knows ND. Built the defense that led to a NC game appearance. Young, energetic, good recruiter. U Conn is a tough place to win. As was Northwestern when Ara was there.

BK wins out, wins a bowl and goes 12-0 next year. Then what?

Only coach outside of Meyer I would consider is the UWUB coach. Proven. Sean Payton is interesting tho whoever said that.

BK will be here 3 more years at least because ND is gonna roll next year.

Put the crack pipe down now.
