Remind us again why ND should join a conference

Had a conversation over dinner with an Orange Bowl committee member (met the day after NC, his table beside my wife and I).

An OSU grad from 1976. We are sporting our ND gear, he and his wife and his daughter are sporting scarlet and grey. After some informalities he says “so when are you guys joining a conference”. I immediately said, only when we have to…

Then I reminded him of above …and also said I enjoy ND playing all over (reminded him that we play west coast, east coast, south, besides midwest…). When I started naming teams he shut up….

Funny how that remains the biggest envy of many fan bases…

The envy is all it is IMO. Why does Franklin think ND needs to join a conference? I doubt he’d say the same if Penn State was still independent. He and others just want to drag ND down and eliminate one of the unique qualities of ND.

ND still plays 8-10 Power conference opponents so it doesn’t matter, and even if it was only 6-7 power opponents, then ND going 10-2 or 11-1 would probably just need to be judged more harshly. No big deal. All of the other schools are free to do the same but they won’t for financial reasons so they seek to drag ND down.

Why does Franklin think ND needs to join a conference? The simple answer is because he’s an ass! His behavior in the joint conf prior to the game revealed an insecure ass who seems beyond envious of Freeman and ND.
