Regarding the USC game

Well, I have always had this as a ND win but now, sadly, it is even more clear. We lost Travis Dye for the season against Colorado. Travis was the second or third most important player on our offense and the spiritual and emotional leader. A tough job just got a lot tougher. Just though you might want the update.
 
Good to know. Appreciate the modesty as well, but it's bordering on false modesty at this point. You guys are good, and are absolutely still a playoff potential team in LR's first year. I'm very confident ND can potentially, maybe, if we play a great game, pull off the upset. But USC is clearly the favorite.

UCLA might be a tougher out than us....

I am actually thinking we lose both games. It may be foolish, but it isn't false. It is my belief. I truly hope I am wrong. I have to confess I am more confused by ND than any team I have ever watched in any year. It seems like they can beat almost anyone and them they fall apart in the second half to Navy. I had convinced myself that the Marshall et al losses were just new coach struggles until second half Navy. Now, I just don't get it.

I think ND on their game is better and I think you well be on your game against us. If not, then yeah, we win.

What's your effin' problem now? I was making conversation with this overly-nice USC fan. UCLA is what, like, 8-2? Is there some reason we're so much better than them, or that it's impious of me to make a throwaway remark like that? And so I suppose you're questioning my fandom, which is the new angle toxic BK-hating cancers like you are now trying to work.

Like I said, you guys need mental help. As far as I'm concerned, I don't even consider you guys ND fans at all, straight up. You're hangers-on is what you are. Barnacles. You don't have anything to do with ND, and as fans generally speaking, you're absolutely awful. And guys like yourself being part of the online fan scene just brings ND football down. You absolutely do.

Nah it is just that you are one of those Junior High type of guys that finds hidden flaws in someone who roots for another team. I have posting here for years, When I think SC is going to win, I say so, When I think ND is going to win, I say so.

Oh, and I have a great deal of respect for ND, having grown up in Indiana and Michigan. I also respect ND as being part of the very foundation of college football, my favorite sport. I want ND to win every game but one, against SC where my kids went to school.

No conspiracies, no false flags, no illuminati, just my opinion. The idea of being respectful to a rival is just so foreign to the type of person you are that you read malice into it. I am sorry this is true. It is a hard way to live.

Well based on our 2nd half Navy performance we'll have our hands full with BC so not too worried about SC yet.

I just don't understand why you don't think you're going to win. I appreciate you being soft-spoken on a ND board. But ND football is a roller coaster ride so far this year. And you guys have pretty much totally hit the ground running, to a degree that has to have exceeded most fan expectations. And things couldn't have gone a whole lot better than they have. Can USC still improve under LR? Damn right they can, but not that much. And you guy are definitely a very good team already, warts and all, whatever your shortcomings, and are the rock-solid favorite as of today over ND in like, 13 days time.....

It is just a match up thing for me. Your D-line verse our running game, your methodical offense verses out risk reward defense. Also, your defense applies pressure in the proper way to combat WIlliams. If you go all out on Williams, he will destroy you. I see your defense containing while pressuring. The way to best Willams is to keep him in the pocket. He keeps 90% of the drives alive by ab libbing. Keep him in the pocket the drive will stall.

I agree you have been a roller coaster and it you are down we will win. But CW an have off games too. We were behind 3-2 for most of the first quarter against Colorado and CW didn't warm up until the end of the second half. If you do that against you, we lose. Take a look at the Oregon State game.

If this was at ND, and was in South Bend, I might meet you halfway on this and call it a toss-up, let the best team win. And our defense could rise up with the home crowd advantage. But I'm just not feeling it much being on the road. I feel like USC will have more to prove, and the football gods will be with them for this matchup. I definitely wouldn't say like, no chance for ND. But I guess it just seems like it's going to be USC's turn this time. And that's going to be the energy in the air that night....

USC 31 ND 17. Going to be in Vegas this week putting $100 on SC
 
Beach is by far the best non ND poster on this board and its not even close.

As regards USC, who knows? A team that can play OSU tough for 60 minutes and pretty much humiliate Clemson lose to Marshal, Stanford, and nearly Navy (when Navy as a team is poor) is not a team to bet on

Last thought on this subject, and you're right, this could easily go either way. Fair statement. And losing Dye is a blow for sure. And I'm not down on ND as having no chance, and if good Drew Pyne shows up, maybe we'll be totally up for it and it will be a great game, that would be awesome.

I guess there's part of me that's glad to see USC winning again. I got so used to you guys punching below your weight for what, like ten years. And you know how much I hated Clay Helton, and don't even get me started about Lane Kiffin. So it's not like I want USC to be all good again, but there is for me almost a feeling of relief that USC is good again. And all's right in the world, or something like that....
