Receiver Change for BC

Sorry to hear Canteen is injured, but I will be happy to see some change in the WR rotation.

What's Canteen's injury?

Shoulder injury. Probably not a good thing given that he's had an ongoing issue with his shoulder (if it's the same one). Regardless, Finke will be the more productive player. Would like to see Claypool get reps at both spots as well.

Thanks.

ND finished the day in negative yards punt return. At the start he was trying to get a return and was getting pummeled for his attempts. The Georgia punter hit them high and the Dawg coverage was excellent. You saw later he had no choice but to fair catch. Criqui and Pinkett were imploring Chris to fair catch before he loses the ball. As I have mentioned several times, ND punt return is towards the bottom in D1.

I wish someone other than Finke was returning punts. He is a fair catch back there and not a threat.
The punter and the coverage team determines whether we fair catch or not - not the person receiving the punt. Doesn't matter if you have Deion Sanders back there receiving punts. If the kick has hang-time and the coverage is good, there is no choice but to fair catch.

Both the punter and kick off guy from Georgia kicked the ball very high, with great hang time.

It's funny you're complaining about the fair catching. I was at the game and after 2 punts, everyone in my section (ND and UGA fans) were talking about how he needed to start fair catching those punts before he got himself killed.

Hell, I was jump happy we didn't have any bobbles or fumbles. Georgia's kick hang time was good and their coverage great. Finke has really good hands on punts.

Yes but keep in mind it's about right on pace with special teams of today with the way they cover punts. The opportunity just doesn't present itself like days of yore.

Long ago every Saturday night doing highlights of all the games you could always find a punt return or two for a touchdown.

It's seldom seen any more. Teams have exploited the punt coverage formations and run back chances are slim to none.

When faced with a good punter like last week, I would like to see us at least try put a little pressure on the punter and the snapper. Even it you can't get to him, at least give those guys something to think about. Pretty sure Georgia's punter could have dropped a couple snaps last week, picked the ball up, and still punted at his leisure.

That makes more sense than someone attacking with no explanation. Go Irish.
