It was expected .Never thought he would consider ND .Gary is down to 5 schools .Supposedly he has Alabama and Michigan in the lead .Auburn and Penn St also get some consideration.

Are we on plan B or C when it comes to recruiting defensive linemen ? Who do we really have a chance to get? Recruiting is not going that well ? Don't want to hear about Jan ,Feb ,signing day 2016 .ND doesn't do that well late in the recruiting season .The SEC teams ,Clemson ,Florida State ,Ohio St .USC ,Oklahoma always seem to finish and clean up on signing day.ND just tries to make sure the commits commit .

You can't win recruiting in June.

If ND has a strong season the commits will come in. It is interesting to see who is trending where. But at this point, literally no school has any commits.

I wouldn't count our irish out just yet because I've read recently that his mom is best friends with Wimbush's mom and that his mom is also pushing our irish hard onto him. if mom is in Kelly and staff's corner then one would think that we'll get a visit from him

he probably wants to see some other places in the country before enrolling at ND:);)

just read elsewhere that gary told ISD and others that he'll be visiting our irish with his mother who has a lot of influence over him. he says that he wants to know how each school that he visits basically handles things academically with the players and that he wants to go to a school that will help him enough academically that he won't have to spend a lot of time with a tutor. does anybody know how Michigan does with there student athletes academically because some people think that there the team to beat

I think Coach Kelly won't take any d tackles or d ends this cycle. He is going to start using all Olineman that Harry H. recruits and have them play both ways in shifts. The tackles and guards will play on the inside and the Tight ends will rush the passer from the outside.
A WINNING formula !!

So true. I don't even watch signing day anymore because of that. No one really ever considers ND on that day. I guess it sums up all the 8-4 seasons. I watched "the opening" to get to know the new crop of college football players and it seemed like a PAC-12 commit fest. ND needs to move it's campus to where the sun shines. That's the only way big time recruits will come in droves.

Very high probability Gary will be Blue.
I agree. Hearing him getting interviewed I thought of three places he'd be perfect at- Mich, Bama and FSU. He couldn't hang in the classroom at ND. He'd be better off going into his senior year at scUM without a major selected. Like Chad Henne and Mike Hart did. I love when michigan people think how tough they are academically. Laughable.

Michigan is an excellent academic school with pretty high standards but not necessarily so for its athletes.

Notre Dame, Duke, Stanford and a handful of others uphold the same academic standards for athletes and non-athletes alike.

Hardballs explained the Michigan Way when he was at Stanford - football cuts corners for its guys - enough said: “Michigan is a good school and I got a good education there,” he said, “but the athletic department has ways to get borderline guys in and, when they’re in, they steer them to courses in sports communications. They’re adulated when they’re playing, but when they get out, the people who adulated them won’t hire them.” - except for Walmart.

The SEC ,PAC 12(especially USC,UCLA, even Oregon who people expected to drop significantly in their ratings ) ,Ohio State ,Michigan,Clemson ,Florida St are going to really cash in come January ,and on The February signing day . Repeating myself ,ND's recruiting is usually trying to hold on to their commits .

As far as Rashan Gary , he and his mother will look for a good educational school and Michigan fits the bill. But in the back of their minds ,is the NFL with the $$$ at signing .Can't get away from that.I would think ND meets what Gary is looking for ?ND has a slight chance . It is much ,much, smaller than Michigan .Might be a plus?

well all of the insiders are saying his mom is in the our irish's corner and that his family is friends with the Wimbush family so that's got to be something Michigan doesn't have in there corner

well until he or his mom comes out and says he has no interest in our irish then this is still a discussable. if his mom is really pushing for our irish like the insiders say then there is always a shot

If he doesn't end up at Michigan, than Michigan had better realize how bad it's recruiting office is. The kid has been all but handed to Harbaugh.

I am going to go out on a limb. He will be Irish when all is said and done. I have no inside info or anything. I just have a gut feeling he will end up at Notre Dame.

I really don't know why so many people think Michigan is the team to beat. has he or his mom came out and said that the wolverines are the top team on his list

Gary has then in his top group, he old high school coach was hired at Michigan to be a coordinator of recruiting. Mattison is a pretty good recruiter and has a good relationship with the kid.

so basically Michigan then has his former coach going to battle for him vs his mom and the Wimbush family going to battle for our irish. It'll be interesting to see who wins that battle

His mom says she likes ND, I am not sold on the belief that she is necessarily in ND's corner. She was "blown away" by both Georgia and Auburn so...

Team to beat no...but even his mom has said that Aurburn and Michigan have separated themselves in her mind so far....weird pair but that is the case I guess. Anyone saying that mom is in ND.'s corner is lying. I wouldn't doubt she made a comment or two about how she would like her son to give ND a harder look...it has was she is looking for in terms of what she wants for her son...but saying she is pro ND (over other schools) simply is not true.
