Golson:

I am not happy to see the young man leave. I feel he could have had an excellent season.

With Golson we know he had the ability to get the Fighting Irish to Championship game.
He showed early last season that he could be one of the top quarterbacks in the country.
I have to question though his mind, he simply didn't seem ready to compete for the job which leads to questions to his mental toughness.

Zaire:

While Zaire is not as polished, not as experienced, he seems to be ready to step up and lead this team and the team seems to have confidence in him.
His confidence, his leadership and his athletic ability are good enough that if he can be consistent the Fighting Irish will still have a dynamic offense.
He has a great deal of work to be do. With Golson transferring he will now get the reps that should have him ready to lead this team.

Part of the reason Golson left may have been that he could see Zaire growing. Malik is superior as an athlete maybe Golson saw that if he continue to grow Malik would pass him up or at least the thought of that was enough to say bye bye...

The expectations for the Fighting Irish should not be much different. The talent level is high. Zaire does not have to win every game on his own. Games may be tighter, might create a little more tension however, you can not say that if Golson could lead to a win against a team that Zaire can not. Any team that Notre Dame could win with Golson they can with Zaire.

The bad part of Golson playing in the spring is that Kizer did not get the work that would have helped be ready if he needs to step in if needed.

I would like to hear Golson's thought process for why he left and why he waited to make the decision.

Something that is sad though is how some have forgotten that Golson did his 4 years, got his degree before moving on. He is and always will be a part of the Notre Dame family. We may not like that he decided to go somewhere else to finish up but he did so after getting his degree.
