John “Jack” Lloyd, longtime announcer for University of Notre Dame athletics event through 2013, died Thursday morning at age 79. Lloyd served as public-address announcer for Irish men’s basketball games for 36 years at the Fieldhouse and the Joyce Center—and he also handled announcing duties in the Notre Dame Stadium press box for nearly a half-century. A 1958 Notre Dame graduate, Lloyd received an honorary monogram from the Notre Dame Monogram Club in 1997. Lloyd was featured in the 2014 edition of Strong of Heart, and that piece appears below:
