Is Jack on the hot seat along w/ BK ?

Who's seat is hotter ? Jacks for giving BK a 6 year extension last off season - when no coach in recent memory had gone past 11 seasons as a ND coach - And for giving BK another season after this one ?

Or, is it BK's because Jack supposedly has done a nice job on all other sports at ND other than Football ?

Who has the hotter seat if Jack does not fire BK at seasons end ?

Or, maybe both their seats are red hot heading into next season ?

You are assuming that Jack is driving the bus. While Jack may set the table, the board of trustees and president have the final say on the ultimate metaphor......

Forget it 78. You're not going to stop this freight train. They have their collectives mind made up and nothing or no one can talk them into reality.

Maybe so, but that doesn't change reality. Jack is in no danger.

Jack is not on the hot seat at all.

Who ok'd the 6 extension at $4.5 million per year ? To a coach who had just finished year 6 w/ only 1 great season // 1 good season // and 4 slightly below average seasons - for a program who feels Jan 1 bowl games are the goal every season - not necessarily NC seasons - but for a program who feels they should be a top 10 program w/ Jan 1 bowl games every 4 out 6 years.

Not 2 out of 6 years Jan.1 bowl games - and when you get to that top tier Jan 1 type bowl game your team competes at respectable level and does not get blown out each time.

And who approves 6 years - when he had 6 years in - which means he'd have to go 12 total to full fill it - when NO COACH in recent memory had gone past 11 years total due to the pressures of coaching at ND ?

And who approves this to a coach who has multiple players suspended for academics and other issues - in multiple seasons ?

And who sent a young student up in a wind storm on scissor lift to film a practice ?

I'm sorry BK has had a lot of mulligans - a lot of mulligans - AND IF JACK did not approve and sign off on the 6 year EXT. WHO DID ?

And Who approved such an EXT when ND just got burned in a very similar fashion by their very last coach CW ?

Who approved that 6 year ext. ? Who is gonna be responsible for the 5 years left at S4.5 Million per season or $22,500,000 to BK when he finally gets terminated at the end of next season.

Who approved that EXTENSION 78 ? WHO SIGNED OFF ON IT ?

WHO will have cost ND $22,500,000 ?

IB, you really need to calm down. You are far too angry about something over which you have no control. Jack's seat is about as cold as cold can be.

78 I am angry - angry at how SOFT ND Admin is w/ their coach and how many mulligans BK seems to get.

Angry at ND for allowing him to able to walk ND sidelines for another season.

Angry at how overall bad ND football has been now since 1993. How afraid most ND alums it seems are of change to a new coach - with the mantra - "how we gonna find someone better than BK ?" WTF type attitude is that ? Or, this other one that I hear a lot - "well BK is better than TY, CW, and BOOB , WTF is that ? Really - how much better is he ?

you are right I am angry -

The only seat JS is on is the toilet seat. If he doesn't fire BK, he's full of ****.

Whatever you like is your right.

But the facts are that BK averaged 9 wins a years for his years prior to this.

ND isn't firing you for that.

Another one like this and it's a different conversation but he gets a chance to fix it.

if Jack retains BK and ND retains Jack
we do what we always do, we suck it up and get ready to back the team in '17!

(recruiting is suffering and damage done the past three classes will rear it's ugly head in 2-3 years; no way to remedy it nor avoid it w/o dumbing down the schedule to meet the talent)

I agree that Jack is not on the hot seat. He will do with Kelly what he is instructed to do with Kelly...i.e. he is doing his job. The priorities of the powers that be at Notre Dame are quite a departure from the average fan. Fans can control their own priorities and not much else.

Overall record for 7 years is 59 wins and soon to be 31 losses ,looks okay but of you take away the 2012 and 2015 record of 22-3 , ,Kelly is only 37-27 , really 5 mediocre years losing to a lot of teams that had less talent . As I am repeating , most big time programs would not put up with that . And next year ,is the administration really going to be happy with an 8-4, 8-5 type , Notre Dame die- hard fans are not . And does anybody really expect a complete turn around from 4-8 to 10-2 9-3 in 2017 ?I can see wins against Temple, Boston College , Miami of Ohio , Wake Forest and North Carolina St ( game at ND ), but the toughest games are also home , USC and Navy and ,Georgia. Then we play away at Michigan St., North Carolina , Miami,Stanford, all very tough games.

I don't think Swarbrick gives Kelly a 6-year extension OR fires him without Board of Trustees approval.

Kelly will be in hot pursuit of another job; recruiting, suspensions and now sactions have virtually crippled this program. It will be a decade to recover, if it is at all possible! Kelly will not want his career destoyed by these events! Like the Frankenstein Syndrome: create the monster, then abandon it.

Such an inglorious end to such a glorious program.

you are right I am angry -

God bless you IB. You're a real NDomer.

I'm sorry but this has to be said. This 78 guy is just a complete troll. He's been on ignore for a while if that tells you anything.

His whole shtick of who else can do a better job is just beyond pathetic at this point. Arrogant people like him is what's wrong at ND.

Blind academic people shouldn't be making decisions.

while I never engage '78 in discussion, he doesn't deserve that 'shot'; he is a ND fan through and through!

This isn't the end of anything, it's pretty clear these recent sanctions are over enforcement.

It does sting though - we were the first program to ever rank #1 both academically and in football. 4-6 selfish student athletes destroyed that accomplishment, and let us believe a lie. I find that so problematic that ND meant so little to them.

At the same time, we are an institution that prides itself on character, integrity and academics. Did we arguably fail those young men as much as they failed us? Did our leaders fail to instill those values? Or fail to identify the absence of those values? Am I reading too much into this?

Not even the moral victories anymore, huh Coach Kelly. He prides himself on the RKGs. Where are they....?

In my opinion, Kelly, Jack , and Fr. Jenkins should all be shown the door ! Time for a clean sweep.

Fr. Jenkins will not be shown the door based upon how the football team is performing. It's silly to think otherwise.

While I doubt Jack's seat is hot, he's not nearly as untouchable as you suggest. The football program is a huge source of revenue to the university, directly and indirectly through donations and if this is not maintained he's in serious trouble. Lets not forget all of these academic scandals happened with Jack as AD.

I doubt he's in trouble now but I'm fairly confident he is as untouchable as you suggest.

The athletics as a whole are doing great. I'd imagine the area over which he has the least control is the football coach, so i would think he is safe as hell. That school is simply booming financially. Campus is growing like crazy.

Hvillbill,
I was thinking of other reasons for Fr. Jenkins, But that could be a non footballtopic for off season !
A person started a tread a few days ago that related indirectly to that, but the mods deleated that tread.
