Taking into account college on field production, NFL Draft position and NFL success who are the top schools at each position currently?
QBU - Oklahoma - Mayfield and Murray both won Heisman trophies. Both overall #1 picks. Hurts will start this year in Philly after being a 2nd rounder. After Malachi Nelson commits to OU that will be three 5-star QBs committed to OU in four years. Geesh!
RBU - Alabama - Mark Ingram, Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs and Najee Harris have all been studs. A heisman winner and a couple 1st round picks. Wisconsin is also interesting.
WRU - Alabama - Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, Henry Riggs, Devonta Smith and Jaylon Waddle were all first round picks. No one is even close to Alabama here.
TEU - Iowa - George Kittle, TJ Hockenson and Noah Fant. Two first round picks in the same year. The best TE in the NFL. Iowa has had 5 TE's drafted during the Kelly era while ND has had 8. I give the nod to Iowa since their guys are doing better in the NFL.
OLU - Notre Dame - Not the most OL picked but the impact players are there. Zach Martin, Q, Stanley and McGlinchey have been really good. Nick Martin is a solid center and ND just had a trio drafted that should continue the tradition.
DLU - Clemson - Grady Jarrett, Vic Beasley, Dexter Lawrence, Christian WIlkins, Shaq Lawson. Clemson has been churning out a lot of high end DL the past couple years. Jarrett has been a several time pro bowler. Clemson also had three DL drafted in the first round after their title in 2018. Alabama could make a claim as well.
LBU - Georgia - Since Smart has got there the linebackers have produced quite well. Roquan Smith was a top 10 pick and they also have Justin Houston and Alec Ogletree from Richt era. There's not a clear leader in this category imo.
DBU - OSU - 12 first round picks in the past twenty years with majority of those coming recently. Lattimore is possibly the best corner in the NFL. The seem to produce great corners but do lack a bit at safety. LSU could make an argument.
What do you think?
