Let's take a poll of all the coaches in college football and the NFL and ask them the following question

Given more difficult academic requirements and playing w-o half your starters do you think 10-2 is a great yr given that the two losses were by 2 pts each vs the #1 team and #4 team in the country both games on the road ?

My guess is 99% of the coaches in the nfl and college would say yes .

10-2 against a top 15 SOS is always good. Add to that the rash of suspensions and injuries and ND over achieved. That said, it still stinks one even one loss happens.

As for academics, it's the right thing, no real ND fans want to bring in idiots like they do at most schools.

Look; all of the above is very interesting, in some sort of way. However, can someone who has more knowledge than me explain why ND is so flat at the beginning of big games? And, why their opposition always comes out firing on all cylinders, with exactly the right approach to get up on ND? That problem, my friends, has to be coaching. They would all say he's doing a fantastic job as they love having a turkey coach at ND that they can out X and O and then get our recruits too as players like to win.

I'd imagine they'd be also willing to lob money into his contract to keep him at ND so they can stay fat and happy and not compete with a competent ND program which they know is extremely dangerous under the right hands.

True but I'd argue USC was a good win. And the loses at Clemson and Stanford weren't nearly as bad as the loss against OSU. I didn't feel ND was ever a threat to the Buckeyes in that game.
