For me:
1- Josh Barajas - get this guy on the field and see if there is a player here. This was a very highly recruited player who seemed to have a lot of tools and football ability. Maybe there is something here maybe there is not but lets not just let him waste away and/or eventually transfer. Give him a chance.
2- Kevin Stepherson - Guy always seems to be streaking wide open down field and has made some plays already. I am all for getting him some more playing time and developing his tools further so we have our Wr unit in a better position for 2017. He has to be one of our best 3 Wrs for next year barring big leaps in growth and development from Claypool and Mckinley.
3- Chase Claypool - same as above just to see what this kid brings to the table and if he can almost act as a de facto 2nd TE when we go 3 WR. Would add a different dimension to the slot in contrast to what Sanders brings. Think this is a special player.
4- Nic Weishar - Throw this kid the ball and get him involved in the passing game. From all accounts he is the better receiving TE between him and Smythe and yet we only see him in a blocking role and in those cases he seems to be the better blocker (Stanford 2015, Pittsburgh 2015 for example)
5- Asmar Bilal - Even if its just rushing the passer we pretty much know what we have in Morgan at mike and Martini in general and Onwualu is graduating so lets see if a 3-4 might be our best set for 2017 by seeing if 2 of Coney, Bilal, potentially Barajas and then guys like Julian Okwara and D Hayes that look like capable dog LBs for the 3-4 being a really solid 3-4 LB unit.
6- Nick Coleman - JK. Sorry but anyone but Coleman at this point in the season. Play Love, Vaughn, Pride Jr and even Ashton White before him. He has had a miserable season. Maybe move him to RB or S. Jesus.
7- Jalen Elliot and Devon Studstill - I know they are playing especially Studstill but Id make them my starting Safeties and maybe move Tranquil to dog with JO and play a 3-4 from here on out and give Tranquil time in our dime looks and other exotic looks as an in the box S.
8- Jay Hayes - find his best position and let him get up the field and play like Sheldon Day should have. Could be a good interior pass rusher or a stout sDE. Either way hed be one of my DEs in our 3-4 for next year, probably alternating with Bonner with Cage/Mokwuah and Taylor in the middle and Tillery alternating with Bonner as well maybe even Karem at both DE spots if there is time this year (Rochell has earned the right to play this year).
9- Josh Adams - Give the guy the ball 20 times a game and see what we have. I think he is a special player and a guy that can give an offense and identity. Run 3 WR with heavy mix of Claypool and double TE with Weishar and Luatua and ready the power running game.
10- Tyler Luatua - Ready him as our 2nd TE for power sets. See above
More thoughts:
-develop more of a screen game
-more traps, inside power, qb power
-more vertical passing with KS, CJ and ESB running DOWNFIELD not horizontally
-rush Bilal, Hayes, Hays, Trumbetti, Okwara and Bonner and see who our pass rushers are
-move to more of a 3-4 and play more LBs
-less blitzing with the mike and inside LBs
-less cover 3 and zone blitzes
-more man and cover 2 sending 4-5 guys as pass rushers
