To get paid while getting a free education is an opportunity of a lifetime but many players will squander the opportunity. Players like Riley are setting up themselves to have a great successful life and career.

Most athletes in my experience take the easier route. I was a teacher's aide in computer science during college. Tutored too. The basketball players did the minimal. The soccer players were interestingly much better, although a decent amount of drop outs.

My professor made me give a minimal C grade unless it was truly hopeless. This was at an excellent Jesuit university. But like I said, even with such accommodation, some flunked out...and we really tried to make them successful.
