Phil Jurkovec is Irish! Verbal Commit 5 Star 2018

Timing works well for a top QB in my opinion. He is very tall....for his age....hopefully he is about done height wise or we will have the first 6'9 QB in ND history
 
Can we please sign some 5-star pass rushing defensive linemen .
 
Huuuuge.... Watch his tape. The guy is big AND really fast and he has a great arm... Might be the best prospect since Clausen (with a way better upside!)

Picked the Irish over Ohio State, Alabama and Clemson!

He loves Sanford. Thanks Mike Sanford (Kelly's best decision as a coach was hiring this guy. Gotta keep him!!!!!)

Wonder why Michigan passed on him..I guess their loaded at QB, but it would not hurt to have this young man....
 
hold on to Sanford and close the deal on Jurkovec

Having a QB aboard early - one who is committed to his commitment and future team - will definately be a big plus in the recruiting effort!
 
A QB recruit commiting to ND 2 years in advance! Only a few years ago who would have "thunk" it? Big change and nice move in recruiting policy following the lead of the other big time programs. Every year now more and more big changes seem to be happening for ND football.

They key phrase here is about Sanford -- so, let's hope he is still here then!

been following his recruitment for a little while and can say that this really is a huuuuuuge get for our irish like others have said in above posts. kid has a cannon for a arm already and yet still has two years of high school left. read somewhere recently that he really wanted a Michigan offer and that they would be the team to beat if offered but harbaugh hasn't offered yet. getting this kid now will really help in getting other elite players to want to follow him to south bend
 
Very impressive highlight film. And the PSU and Pitt boards are livid about losing out, which is usually a good sign.

from what some of the recruiting writers have been saying it seems to have been a nd vs ohio st battle for him for a while now. not getting local Indiana kids like hunter Johnson and the other qb who just signed with Michigan in feb won't seem to be a big deal anymore now that we have this kid on board

he has a 'reservation', but he has not boarded and the conductor has not yet punched the ticket.

Staff needs to be persistant in making this kid aware he is a key part of the plan and how great his future is at ND and BEYOND!

I've always said Sanford, Denson, Heistand, Lyght, others were great/solid hires. It's amazing how the QB performance enhanced dramatically under Sanford's watch. Meanwhile the little porker has the Music City Bowl as his post season crown jewel.

You call Coach Kelly a porker but at least he doesn't have a front butt like your man--Coach Jim Harbaugh. Harbaugh is a freakin Whale !

I think it's fair to say we don't get this kid without Sanford being on staff. Remember all the negative nannies ripping Kelly and predicting recruiting Armageddon when we lost Alford? Very impressed with Sanford the recruiter, and hope to see him stay on board with increasing responsibilities.

Alford is still a top recruiter; and he has been part of a NC season

As a recruiter he is missed; his loss is mitigated by the addition of Sanford. I was very concerned with the short term effects of losing Alford (the last 2 classes could have used his personality in closing on key prospects).
We knew Sanford resonated with the kids; especially on offense. We knew he had a great offensive mind.
A lot of those concerned with the loss of Alford were also the same fans that were greatest in praise of the Sanford hire (I count myself among them).

The short term concerns over the loss of Alford were well founded and were borne out. And the Alford loss was taken in context that it was Cooks AND Alford; you forgot that?

your, I told you so, is a week attempt to flame! especially as hindsight!

Has he been upgraded to a five star??

Everything I've read to date lists him as a four star. Not chopped liver,
but everyone here is calling him a five star. Just curious if this is legit
or wishful thinking?
