Per Jeff McKnight ND to go 8-5 Next Season

Java - so if you aren't Alabama you are Princeton? I like the fact that ND is very close to Bama in football while being close to Princeton in academics - all with a moral approach founded in the Catholic tradition. I was fortunate to go to ND as was my first child. Now another has been accepted and in the midst of making the college decision while another child attends another great Catholic college. In the end we will have paid for 57 years of Catholic education for our children (Pre-3 through college). I don't have a vacation home, country club, or drive expensive cars, but I applaud trying to be the best in every phase - which is where I see ND.

I'm not saying that at all but as time goes by and ND becomes, "just another team" on the football field ND will have to change. They will be forced to join a conference. They will be a good program viewed along the lines of a MSU, UNC or Missouri. There will be a few generations that will only know ND as nothing more than a good program that used to be great.

IMO, I would rather they become an Ivy League school than a very average program. ND isn't anywhere near Bama in football, I think they proved that.

If the defense does not get depleted due to injuries they are close to Bama minus the grey shirting

Dip

in all due respect, I doubt, other than some ND fans, you would find many informed followers of CF, of the opinion that ND is anwhere near the level that Bama currently enjoys. Geez Bama has won multiple NC's as ND has somewhat struggled. The gap widens with each recruiting cycle.

Now that said, this is in large part to institutional priorities.

We are no where near alabama. Here's the Total D Stats ND vs (alabama) since kelly's arrival.

Total D

2010 51 (5)
2011 30 (1)
2012 7 (1)
2013 31 (5)
2014 73 (12)
2015 45 (3)

In addition, this defense under kelly/van gorder authored the worst ppg against ND in school history in 2014. Opponents averaged 29.15 per game. 2015's 24.07 ppg against is the 5th worst in school history. The 2 years combined are the worst consecutive years ever in the history of ND football.

PS Heading into this season we have 2 guys with 100+ career tackles..... Lastly, alabama took the top defense of the kelly era and dismantled it in the tunnel before the game....

Yea, I reread what Perse wrote and maybe you are correct.

But I am completely correct on our ability to compete with those teams. I would think the beatings we took at the hands of Bama and O$U should be more than enough evidence to prove we aren't in their league. Is it impossible for ND to win a NC? No, but it is extremely unlikely.

That's like saying that the beating Michigan State has taken at our hands, even at the height of their success, means they can't possibly compete with us

It's a flawed analysis

But at least your argument is worth discussing........what Perse is saying is simply factually inaccurate (as usual)

Why are you comparing only defenses?

Perhaps some kid of pre-existing agenda???

When your top 2 players on d play like they did in 2012 Champ. game, you're going to get smoked. Manti was in dealing with fantasygate and Motta was terrible. No chance to compete.

The Manti situation was tragic. That is among the worst things I have ever witnessed in cfb.

It's almost as inaccurate as your season predictions, which have served as pure comedy gold to everyone around. Thank you

Wait, being if by 2 games is comedy??

Does that mean that every UM fan who said "no way Harbaugh lets both rivals humiliate Michigan AGAIN" we're absolute comedic geniuses??

Or did Michigan actually like watching Sparty break HARBAUGH and then having Urban come in and rape a hollow husk until the Wilbur fans abandoned the stadium?!!

Please...tell me more...

Lol

Its not just the Bama game, O$U pounded us pretty good too. IMO, those 2 games have shown we can't compete with the biggest programs.

Losing is one thing, but we were completely embarrassed in both of those games. Outside of MSU I'm not sure we have beaten a team that finished the season in the top 10. Maybe we have, but I can't think of one off the top of my head

So if you are not in the top 3 programs you aren't in the top 120? Or the other 117 should change to club status? Hey I think ND should recruit a little better than they have and I was at the Bama game. Since the championship in 1988 the game has changed tremendously. Actually it is more the attitudes of recruits and the entitlement too many seem to have. Kids are coddled and don't have a good work ethic and sense of accountability. When ND has recruited these players, they leave the program early because they are not willing to sacrifice and put in the necessary effort. I think the Showtime program did a great job of showing that success in life happens both on and off the field.

OK Pers, and cgvr maybe my point was a stretch.

Zaire is unhappy. Zaire might wanted to transfer if he not play many games in 2016. ND have been problem with CB,SS but some of players did not play in 2015, they will be great CB and SS in 2016.

Yup. Two games in a 12 game season is pretty bad. Thanks again for the comedy!!

Who would have thought Michigan would finish with the same record as your "mighty" Irish?? Based on your expert predictions, ND was supposed to be the 2015 national title winner.

Please tell us more...

Lol

Lol

So based in your "two games is comedy" routine I assume you're putting the gun in your mouth as we speak, from the memory of the 2 GAMES where MSU and OSU both told HARBAUGH/UM to bend over and bite the pillow...because they're going in dry???

Will you have your proxy update is all afterwards?

Lol.....

Lol

Everyone is still waiting for your predictions to come true. Pure golden comedy!

If you want to focus on two games, just for fun, how about Clemson and Stanford? Has there ever been a greater "bend over and fold" job than what your national title Irish did in those games? Not to mention a just as stellar performance against osu in the bowl game.

Lol.

Can't wait for more pure comedy...

I predicted ND for 10+ wins in the preseason....and that's exactly what they ended with.
Damn impressive job by me.

Michigan fans predicted HARBAUGH to beat their rivals, and he promptly bit the pillow has Dantonio sucker punched him and Meyer absolutely made him his b*tch.
That's some humiliating sh*t there.

I'm amazed Michigan fans still even want to talk about sports...every single time they play a rival...the end up in their knees

It's almost to brutal to laugh at.....almost.....lol

Your pure golden comedy is pretty darn funny!!

What is really interesting is that you predicted Michigan to lose both of the games against the rivals anyways. But it is funny to bring up this point.

Even funnier is how Michigan ended up with the same record as the "mighty" Irish. The comedy becomes more golden by the second!!

But if you want to talk sports in general now, that's cool. It has to be tough watching ND be the whipping boy year after year in every major sport. It must be very difficult for you. And explains why you have the need to make pure golden comedy predictions!! Please keep up the strong effort! How many national titles in a row has ND won now, according to your predictions?

Lol...

Remember when Michigan. Fans thought HARBAUGH was going to stop their big bro and instate bully from both kicking their ass, over and over and over???

Good times, good times....
