do NOT hire the S&C assistant from USC!! It is clear that PSU has superior S&C! Second half teams are best teams!

No one works harder than Purse!!!! he is on it 24/7!!! Welcome back About time for you to predict that our 2018 is going to OSU isn't it?

PSU outscored 17-0 in fourth qtr. Regardless, a game of many outstanding plays and fun to watch. Hard to match USC on talent alone, but PSU went toe to toe in what will be a memorable Rose Bowl.

I don't remember saying PSU was going to win. I said they work harder in the weight room. They were losing when I posted it. Thanks for your input.
They lost the game! So apparently $c can bench press 3 lbs more than Penn St.? What was the purpose of the post? Premature if nothing else.

How 'bout PSU has everybody back and already has the #1 recruiting ranking for 2018. So much for PSU is done for 20 yrs....WE ARE!

Typical...I'd rather lose the Rose Bowl than not play in a bowl game at all. Not real bright are ya.

Um... I too would rather lose the Rose Bowl than win 4 games! Any day! Great for PSU. Great for USC. ND sucks. I love my Irish, but we suck.

I found myself pulling for PSU yesterday simply because they seemingly have less talent and the start of the game made them a huge underdog to pull a win. I like the team and the players play really hard and physical, and Franklin has them all believing. PSU fans have a lot to like and a lot to be proud of. What is still disgusting to the rest of the country though, and what makes posts like 1956's relevant, is the specter of diehard PSU fans and former players defending Paterno and acting as though you had one bad apple, when the whole bushel was bad. Makes it hard for the rest of us to celebrate the accomplishments of this group of players and coaches that had nothing to do with this disgusting period of PSU football.

Could you please copy and paste my post where I said anything that related to what went on 5 yrs ago. It seems like the only one stupid enough to do so is this 1596 jerk....and he is one of yours.

You obviously don't understand my post. Never suggested you made any reference to five years ago. Just pointed out why 1596's post, while silly and inappropriate on first glance, is in fact relevant to why many college football fans will not root for PSU.

No you would not -- you would be like every other ND fan in that if ND got to the Rose Bowl and lost, the next comments would be that Kelly cannot win a major bowl game.

Yeah, 1596 posts are usually cutting to downright insulting and he is an Irish fan, though he is posting on an Irish board and you're a guest on this board. Number one in recruiting for 2018 in Jan. of 2017? Bless your heart!!!

.Horrid year for the Irish but PSU knows how it feels not to go to a bowl too. The sun came up this morning and it will again for Irish football too.

Thanks for letting me know what I think. Just to reiterate, you're stating that I would be more upset if we lost the Rose Bowl than a 4 win season. That's funny.

Which would be accurate until he does! Funny, with all the dysfunction and coaching changes, and with a thin DL and untried QB, I find myself thinking we will enjoy a 10-2 season and a win in one of the major bowls next season, and the talk will be how BK reinvented himself!

I would be very happy if that happened. That would be amazing. I think the chances of that happening are near 0. With a new starting quarterback who has accomplished nothing at the college level, with new staff, with potential loss of much of our talent. That would be an incredible accomplishment.

Maybe I paid Bodi a visit and enjoyed some local brew as we watched the sunset on the Gulf. That would explain my optimism.

Don't look back, but 2012 was something similar.

Now -- I AM NOT saying that ND will repeat that performance -- just a similar circumstance.

Kind of exactly what happened at USC....

Would it really be an incredible accomplishment? Seems to be Kelly's M.O.
Every time he has a young QB they do well.
Every time he has had large turnover in staff
he's excelled. Won't surprise me if they do well/shiţţy. Kelly is still garbage and his record next year won't change a thing.

PSU is of course my home and where I went to school and work. But I never really cared much for the football program here, though I do root for them to do well. This year was nothing short of outstanding for the the kids on the field, coaching staff and the school. If someone would have told me two years ago they'd win the Big 10 and play a lights out game in the rose bowl, I'd think they were insane. They're fun to watch and hard not to pull for. These kids play their hearts out and deserved the success they had this year.

Stop bring up the past and the references to what happened. It makes you look stupid and childish. Saying that the PSU program and school is corrupt and a bunch of cult like boy grabbers is like believing that since ND is a catholic school, they must be the same, given the run of catholic priest we saw arrested over the years for molesting children. It just has to be true right? No one in this school or program had anything to do with it. I might also caution you to be careful what you believe and listen to. Not everything is what the media wants you to believe.

How anyone would rather not play in a bowl game and get beaten (especially as good as the Rose was) is beyond comprehension. Its that mentality that will probably keep ND football under that dusty old rock they've relegated themselves to being under. Sorry folks, but ND is a laughing stock to most outside of that circle or South Bend. They're a relic, living on the past with very little success to show for in the last 20 some years. PSU, the very team some of you just love to put down, is on the rise and will be for some time. Stop making excuses for ND. They're a dumpster fire being run by an administration, alumni base and fanbase that is too busy standing on their soapbox telling the rest of college football they're somehow better than everyone else because of a few academic standards they self impose. The rest of CFB does not care about Notre Dame football anymore and certainly does not need them. CFB revenue is through the roof the past 20 some years, the same time period ND was basically non existent on the big stages of the sport.

As a life long ND fan, it pains me to think or say these things but its the honest to goodness truth. ND football is a relic of days gone by and will most likely always be this way moving forward. Sure their will be a great season here or there. Heck if the Western Michigans and Boise State's of the world can do it once in a while, ND can too. But ND will never be a contender year in and year out like the Holtz days.

Joebot Pedster posting on the ND board after a beat down loss in the Rose Bowl.......Priceless! Clearly undereducated underpaid nitwit!

Very well said....you obviously made good use of your education at a tremendous university.

btw: it is not how hard you work, it is how you work hard. Longo's approach just was not getting it done.

Brilliant....good way of looking at things...one of the positives of going 4-8 is that you don't have to worry about getting your butt beat in a bowl game!
Hilarious- PedoStater on Irish board after getting throat punched in a Rose Bowl. You Joebots aren't even the best team in Pa. Pitt curb stomped your cultish team back to Kinko the Clown Valley! No Bigmac championship for you! Lols

No one wants to lose but the kids in that games, even PSU's kids are part of cfb history and can tell stories about a truly great game. I doubt anyone one would trade the experience.

Throat punched----lost by 3 on the last play of the game.

Curb Stomped....lost by 3 and had a wr drop a sure TD with 90 seconds to go and Pitt had to intercept a pass on the 15 with 14 seconds left. I thought ND people were smart.

Go cry on your own Joebot cult board. You lost - get over it!

beach

how would you rate that game compared to the Ron Vander Kelen Rose Bowl game?

"USC tackle Marv Marinovich was ejected when he got caught elbowing Steve Underwood, the Wisconsin captain.[9] Wisconsin, under the direction of quarterback Ron Vander Kelen put together an incredible comeback attempt in the fourth quarter. Pete Beathard had completed his fourth TD pass with 14:54 left in the game to put USC up 42–14. Then the Badgers, led by Vander Kelen, put together one of the greatest comebacks in the history of college football, scoring 23 unanswered points in the fourth quarter before time ran out. The final score of the game was USC-42, Wisconsin-37. For their efforts, USC quarterback Pete Beathard and Wisconsin quarterback Ron Vander Kelen were both named the Rose Bowl MVPs...."

Another great quote from the forum nerd. Very motivating! My guess is you've never seen the inside of a weight room unless it was passing through to go to band practice.
