Pat Garrity

Seems like a smart move to me. Sharp guy who understands Notre Dame and should be able to help bring some stability to the basketball programs that are both experiencing a lot of uncertainty.
I like it. Also believe he has been tasked with a tall order and is focused on Ivey more than men. Women are adrift

Ignorance.
How so ? The program is currently in disarray with a huge roster upheaval. In one off-season the women's team went from a solid top ten program to massive uncertainty. Both programs need lots of work.

recruiting is looking up for the women but have to agree with the uncertainty. The way the team, at one point at #1, and a real threat to win it all, to complete collapse when it really mattered. Players that seemed certain to say left. Transfers that if you did not question why, you were a fool.

And it has to come down to Ivey. Is she really the one to bring Notre Dame's ladies back to where they were under Muffet? Is she a female Ty Williingham, who for a brief moment had us right back on top and then started a slide that never ended?

These are real questions that need to be answered.

Then the men's bbl program has three times as many questions.

Each ND BB programs have their own issues . Although i feel the mens has not been able to get their recruits to step up in games and the players do not seem to mesh. The womens program peoblems have been more self inflicted issues because their lack of even recruiting multiple players. The womens program will never be able to recruit 3 or 4 McDonalds All Americans or top 30 players in a season until they become a consistent top level team. Basketball is a team game and with good coaching or teaching you can mesh all levels of talent into a successful "Team". For program stability you have to build programs through high school recruiting not through massive one year gets from the portal.
Recruiting and developing players is a coaches main job function. You do both of those, wins will come easier.

Asking Coach Ivey to recruit and sign 3-4 top thirty players each and every season is unrealistic. Only 5 start, only 8 play meaningful minutes, and top 30 players want major minutes.

Again. Unrealistic, IMO.
