Agree - the ones who decommitt or we don't get that we should of gotten if we had a quality head coach will only be around 3 to 5 studs. Most kids who come to ND want the education and don't necessarily care who the Head coach is.
But, have to wonder - why in the heck would a kid want to come play for ND w/ BK as their coach ? The way he interacts w/ his players is as bad as I've seen by a H.C. Saban gets on his players, but at least does it in way where he does not seem like a complete Ahole when he does it. There is a difference. There is a right way to instill discipline or tough love and a wrong way. The BK way looks like the Ahole way of doing it.
His players cannot like playing for him.
And if your a student of the game - you definitely cannot like the ND game plans ? Atrocious. And the team has no identity as well. Does a true stud w/ a good football I.Q. really want to come play for BK ?
I do not post much anymore, but I read them. I will not personally attack anyone associated with the program. That being said, the reasons for change are piling up, IMO, the coach has reached his peak. I realize ND will never recruit like Bama, OSU, and now UM, but I believe still can recruit on a high level. I also believe that SOME elite recruits ND may have a legit shot at can also see the product. Year 7, poor tackling, angles, play calling, and any sort of power football when needed even with a talented OL. All things fall on the head of the program. Losing to teams with far less talent can only mean one thing IMO, coaching. Be honest, how many of you watching the games over the last 7 years have watched a play on the field, and said to yourself, WTF was that. Too many for me.
Spot on Penn. My frustration has boiled over and it took a awhile because I'd continue to give BK mulligans on his coaching blunders. In year #1 - couldn't believe what I saw in that Tulsa game, It reminded me of CW.
Every year he is good for numerous coaching blunders throughout a season from the simple ones like wasted time outs to the big ones like going for 2 when he should be getting the 1..
ND football has become a complete joke again.
If I'm recruiting against Notre Dame for a defensive player...
I tell them the story of one Jaylon Smith.
A ridiculous physical specimen who was ridiculously under utilized.
I'd also tell them of ...no show them the regression of players.
If you want to pick up bad habits and toss out all the good habits you learned from pop Warner up until now, go to Notre Dame.
If you want to progress as a football player and get better each year, please consider coming here instead.

Ara, I'm with you but you are dealing with "death squad" of fans who want nothing but the worse for BK and the program in order to get a new HC. Losing out the rest of the season......check. Losing recruits....check. Short list of candidates when they have zero power to hire or fire.....check. Angry, miserable, hateful......check. Look, I get why they are angry. I'm angry too but I'm not going to let this nonsense ruin my game day fun. I'll be at my usual tailgate spot and later sit in my usual seats and have a terrific time doing it while some will be on this very board...... pissed off, miserable, looking and waiting for something bad to happen on the field.Is it such a challenge to be supportive and positive for the lads?

Your game day fun must be off the charts. I can tell you this after every loss as a student a "pall" was cast over the campus. People were in mourning.....yeah, we partied, but it was bittersweet. The players were miserable.... Good to know losing doesn't spoil your "fun".....
If I am recruiting against ND, I focus on their inability to get players drafted into the NFL, especially the top 3 rounds. Oh wait, never mind......

Yeah, but we used to get over it pretty quickly. Much more quickly than the fans did. Bars Saturday night, section football Sunday morning, Bears (Sweetness and 21 chumps) game on Sunday afternoon, real world (studying) starts around 6p, break for mass at 10:30p, real real world on Monday morning. Not much lamenting time.Isn't college football and the game day atmosphere and all that goes with it supposed to be fun? A great getaway from the work week. You must have missed the part where I repeatedly say "support the lads". I was hoping I wasn't talking to myself. Think what you want about BK. Some have valid points. Others are ridiculous and childish and really take away from the valid points. I wait all off season for ND games and I'm not going to walk around like I'm at a wake because of this season. Anyway, I have faith in our players that they will give us fans 100% against Stanford.
First off, I have never heard any of my classmates or fellow alum refer to the players as "lads". You make a lot of assumptions about folks misery, anger, hate.... It's wonderful that you have the ability to channel people's feelings. Most everyone here supports Notre Dame football. Right now, Porky is viewed as an underachieving and polarizing figure. That's on him.

I want them to win more than anyone, but you were the one who made the comment about recruiting hitting a huge pothole 4 years in the making. My point is there is talent on this team that will play and be successful in the NFL, it is not a talent issue. It is a coaching issue. They will put guys in the NFL because there is talent on the roster.
McGlinchey and Nelson should have been pushing NC State into the end zone by the 4th 1/4....

I make the assumption on misery, anger, and hate based on what you and the rest of the "Never Kelly" death squad have been posting on here since the Texas game. Even a blind man can see it. To live your lives through a bunch of 18-22 year olds is kind of weird. Just the fact that these same LADS haven't measured up to your expectations via BK is also a little on the weird side. You can role play on this board with semi-pithy comments and videos from here to eternity but BK isn't going anywhere until he or Jack decides and last I heard, you are not Jack or BK. In case you glossed over my ever witty comments, I too am not happy about BK and some of his decisions but my life is not bound by BK and wins and losses. Besides, what's it matter what I say because you told me I am useless. Mature content coming from an ND grad. BOOM!
Recruiting is getting a handfull of players that get draft recognition; mostly on the offensive side.
TE'0 was the lone guy on D that has gone high and panned out, though Tuitt is primed for a breakout.
They were recruits > 4 years ago.
In another thread I mentioned though recruiting is good, it is imbalanced and a tier below elite.
There is a coaching issue; far more noticable on offensive side because the talent there is v close to elite.
Defensively it is a compound problem. Coaching sucks and the talent is suspect at best; the DL and LBers stars do not matter anymore because they have game experience to evaluate them.
I have previously posted that the # of 4 stars is missleading because there are too many; they need to do a rating within the star ratings 1-5; IE. 4.0 - 4.9. Not all 4 stars are created equal.
BTW:
as of now the recruiting momentum is as low as any time under Kelly; ND is struggling with recruits who are in the top 10 at their positions. Todays CB is for a corner with a 3 star rating in the low .83 range. The needle is not pointed up. Things could change, if the play on the field stablizes!

We wanted the head coach to get better. He refuses due to a huge ego. Big difference.
P.$. If you keep sitting in those same $eats year after year you're a sucker. ND will continue to give you a crap product and laugh at you all the way to the bank. MSU was my last game until they make changes. I want to see good football. That's my right to want that.

I haven't criticized a player once. I certainly don't live my life through kids who are more worried about their Twitter than a W. I personally would like to see ND be great again. Truly.
Fans like you always say it's not life or death when ND goes 6-6. Meanwhile, all the other football factories laugh at ND as they dominate their opponents. I will always hold the multi-million dollar earning coach accountable. He's pathetic and deserves criticism for not earning his money.

Trumbetti, huge promise. Big motor...etc. didn't take long for Kelly and company to make him pedestrian.
Tranquill, supported the run like we haven't seen Inna safety in a long time. Tenacious.
Two years with Kelly and staff....plays out of control..., confused. Etc. In other words when he's noticed now it's from a bad play.

Anyone knows football knows a 3-4 the front 3 have one job. Eat up blockers to keep off your linebackers. Preferably multiple blockers !

His routes sucked and he suffered from too many drops.
Kizer....is he significantly better than last year? Nope.
See these players high school coaches get them ready and fundamentally sound, only two have us absolutely destroy all the fundamental habits they've acquired since pop Warner. By year three with us they become an empty sweater.
This is why that idiot needs dismissed.

Players who get drafted have the god given measurables that drafting was destined regardless.
How many players with borderline measurables does he get drafted or an NFL tryout? Next to nothing.
He's doing a disservice to those young men, the university, alum...hell even college football as a whole because when we are very good there is a different feel with college football, maybe it's the hate and love of Notre Dame, regardless we are in no man's land, just like Kelly.

Game day fun? There is no fun when we are just playing out the schedule. Can you believe we are 2-4? I am shocked and pissed. I wait all year for ND football; thinking this is the year. I don't mean to spew hate but I hate what ND has become. Is it too much to ask that we at least play a late season game that matters.
