listened to the game against Utah last night on Sirius xm radio and can say that I don't know what to think of them because they have all this elite talent to go along with great speed but yet there finding ways to lose. on the Utah game winning driving with under two minutes to go the Utah anouncers said that the usc players looked mad and were yelling at each other. our west coast us poster in beach may be able to answer this but I wonder if coach helton will start losing his players trust after this loss

Actually USC has lost some talent due to transfers and players quitting. I realize there are some issues there but I support Heltons..decision to punt late in the game. It was the right decision. Their D didn't stop a good Utah offense. Helton is being criticized by their fan base so his future is unclear at this point. Unfortunately you need a hard ass coach to manage elite talent.

The perception is that USC has been a total dumpster fire in recent years ... but it's pretty surprising to see that Brian Kelly at Notre Dame has been almost identical to the 3 coaches at USC during the same time period in terms of win/loss record.

I would say that people look at them as a dumpster fire because of the revolving door of head coaches in the past few years and how that's been handled.

First, Kiffen gets fired on the tarmac after a loss, then Sark shows up hammered to booster parties, meetings, and practice, and now their latest savior is having issues with player discipline plus fans are calling for his head after starting the season at 1-3.

They certainly have the talent to be a very good team, but I have to wonder if they're playing for their next stop (NFL) rather than play for each other and their school.

Beach I watched the game last nite and I do not understand how the Trojans lost That team looked better than the Ute's. I realize the opinion that Helton is a disaster bur USC did not play bad. The offense fell apart to some degree in the second half. The UTE offense was pretty vanilla and the UTE QB was not very accurate except those slants. I want see the days when USC and 'notre dame game meant something

I agree with all of this. We just found a way to lose. It is the little things; false starts, stupid penalties, moving away from successful plays. Things like not adding a second arm on the ball when going to the ground, waiting to commit against a read option, stuff that is taught in Pop Warner. Utah is a very average teams. We were up by 14 in the second half. We were 86-0 when leading by more than ten in the fourth...until last night.

Doubtful ND loses to Duke (although I would not bet more than $5.00 on ND to win this game).

But, this may be just about as bad as any ND team I have ever seen (at least on defense) and - as a fan - I go back to the era of Ara !

Now we are aguing which team is worse.LOL. When ND loses to both Navy and Army it will trump anything on UOJ's schedule. Did the Trojans have a chance at getting Herman after last season? That thought might be worse than another year of Kelly.
