Other Games Thread

Texas Tech went for it on 4th and 6 from the opponent 44, 8:45 remaining, up 1 point.

That’s amazing to me.

Minnesota plays PSU in three weeks, after an off week, so PSU might still finish with two or three losses.

Kansas State in a close one with Houston.
Oregon beating Michigan by 3 touchdowns at the big house is impressive, even is Michigan is down.
Tenn. down 7 to Kentucky, but early.
Kansas State goes down!

Dang. Clemson DL just took a nasty hit on a cut block. I think they need to take a look at that and maybe outlaw that. I think it’s only allowed if you cut immediately on the snap. That wasn’t immediately to me. DL avoids one cutter and the other guy takes his knee out. Ugly.

Miami and SMU now lead the ACC, though.

Louisville's win is good for our SOS, but A&M's loss isn't.
And good that Clemson lost. We probably won't lose again in any event, but on the off chance we go 10-2, we don't want Clemson 11-1 or for that matter A&M. I think it's possible we could still squeak in at 10-2 if it came to that, if enough other teams keep picking up losses.

And USC with another excruciatingly close loss.

No longer worried about USC. They are bad.
I suppose so. They are 4-5. I believe all five losses now decided on the last possession. Either their opponents score on their last possession, or in this case USC can't quite score on theirs. Still, if they're on their game, they could give us a game. The way things are going they might be playing for bowl eligibility against us.

It is always a dangerous game but we should win. I live in Washington the Huskies are mediocre this year.

I don't really get it. I guess I figured after they beat LSU, that they were gonna be pretty good, why wouldn't they be? And that Miller Moss would be almost like a step up from old boy, just because he'd be more of a disciplined system QB or something. That's not exactly how it worked out. But that's just easier for us. If we're going to have a soft schedule, the softer the better I say, and we can just walk into the playoff..

Also Clemson winning the ACC would look real weak in light of week 1.

Not worried about USC. They stink.
All of their games are by one score, I think three times that score was a field goal. That is not where I want ND to be on the road in the last game of the year.

It’s probably better in the short term for LSU to beat Alabama though I won’t be upset if Kelly takes a third loss.

LSU has a tougher schedule after this week than Alabama. Plus ND could hold some tie breakers over LSU if ND beats USC (plus A&M).

It’s actually quite the coincidence that ND could potentially have two wins over common opponents that LSU lost to. Even just having two common opponents is odd.

You won't be, huh? Not surprised to hear that! Why though is it better for LSU to beat Bama? Because LSU will have lost to teams we will have beaten, and if LSU goes 10-2 and those are the only two teams they will have lost to, that can't help but reflect very graciously upon ND's respective resume?

Because LSU had a pretty tough schedule. A typical grinder of an SEC schedule. And if they can go 10-2, presumably make the playoff.... Yeah I see what you mean. It's pretty exquisite actually, with our much weaker schedule, that two of our signature wins were over teams LSU lost to. It's almost like we can take credit for an SEC schedule by extension. And the only thing you have to stomach as a BK-hating ND fan is LSU making the playoff. And you got still got the rare satisfaction, and schadenfreude of ND beating A&M and USC in the same season LSU lost to both. I think everybody wins in that scenario, I like it a lot! The only thing that could top it is a first round ND/LSU matchup. You know the committee would guarantee make that happen if they could.
