I believe Obama use Twitter to a lesser extent, what Trump is smarter than Obama. Why have weekly news conferences when he can get his sentiment out there immediately. Quite frankly, it's brilliant. The Democrats should be embarrassed how they handle themselves when Trump addressed Congress. That was one of the best speeches a president ever gave a combined session of Congress.
You would have a case if Trump was a more polished communicator. Instead he comes across as a rich caveman learning the language.
