This is from MLB.com:
The Braves and Cubs have swung a notable trade, as outfielder Joc Pederson is on his way to Atlanta. First base prospect Bryce Ball is the return going back to Chicago. There doesn’t appear to be any money changing hands in the deal, so the Braves look to be absorbing all of the $1.84MM remaining of his $4.5MM salary for the 2021 season, as well as the $2.5MM buyout of the $10MM mutual option on Pederson for the 2022 season.
Click on Bryce Ball and you will get his career stats. Reports are that he has prodigious power, but strikes out at an alarming rate. This is clearly a salary dump with an outside hope that they can catch lightning in the bottle with Ball.
Here are Bryce Ball's scouting scores on the 80-20 scale used by MLB Scouts: Read them and weep fellow Cub fans.
