I read the article and not sure if I agree or disagree with the safety angle. From a purely excitement level I think the NFL needs to adopt some of the College rules such as shorter play clock and clock stopping on first downs (at least in the fourth quarter) until the ball is set. College football has more plays and therefore more excitement. The NFL it is a quick look at how many time outs are left and you start doing the math with three minutes to play......more plays near the end of the game (or more plays period) means more excitement.
