OT Paris: pray for those hostages and the police, soldiers

I lived in France for three years and I can say they are not the caricatured wimps that is sometimes portrayed in the U.S.. WW1 and WW 11 took much of the vigor out of their culture. I believe they will find the resolve to take on the extremists from the ' Religion of Peace'. Vive la France !

they need prayers for a speedy resolution with a minimum of additional casualty and injury.

Prayers. I take exception to this post however. This kind of news is everywhere. I do not need to see it here. Very inapropriate. This board has a purpose and seeing reminders of the insanity that is becoming omnipresent is not one of them

Maybe you would visit this forum if every post was about the same stuff you can find at CNN or FOX, but not ND fans.

AS per mods, You can post if OT before thread title. Prayers go out to the French people. All this carnage in the name of allah? SMH, disgusting.

Nothing objectionable or inappropriate about the OP, but I think all of us share the thrust of Bodi's comments in part. After watching hours and hours of coverage of this horrific terrorist attack against civilians, I grabbed my I Pad and dropped by this forum looking for a distraction from all this evil, but was actually pleasantly surprised this was the only thread on this. Chose to open and read, and share the heartfelt sympathies to the French people in general, and to the friends and loved ones who lost someone special. May God bless.

I'm in the military and watching this coverage last night with my wife I looked at her and said as much as it would pain me to leave you and our two sons I hope I get the chance to go bring justice to these animals, such a sad situation. Always keep your head on a swivel people and react off your gut instincts because they are usually right. Gob bless the people of France and God bless the USA!!!
Go Irish!!!

When terror and indecency strikes one free man it strikes all free men!

If not here, and everywhere possible, where should one express their outrage. There is nothing inappropriate with the OP and I thank you for posting to shed lite on this insane tragedy.

Islam is not a genocidal cult it is a religion of peace and tolerance abused by a few who are the slime of the earth. I share the sentiments of those who seek revenge, but more importantly, I pray and dream that peace loving people everywhere will speak or, act and do whatever can be done to stop this senseless violence.

Vive la Flance! God Bless America!

Tim, hardly the place for a real discussion about radical Islam. However, the view you express is one we hear every day from our President Et al, and I wonder what is your definition of " a few"? Not in the context of a percentage of the whole of the Islam community, but in real numbers?

The beginnings of Islam and its history are replete with violence and warring, both between the sects and with non believers. Same could be said of Christianity history as well. I don't disparage an entire religion, but I do think the so called radical element is damn pervasive and this has to be confronted in the harshest of terms. The so called pitiless war that the French President vowed last night suggests the West may in fact be on the verge of moving beyond the view you expressed. The intellect wants to understand the root cause for the hopelessness and hatred that fuels these attacks, and to address same; but the heart cries out for revenge and seeks to destroy the terrorist capability. Right now, my heart is winning this debate.

Thank You, Pers for posting and asking for prayers. Prayers are certainly needed and very appropriate anyplace !

Islam is a very puzzling religion ? When I lived and studied in Spain I knew and was friendly with many Muslim students , and some years later,
I spent a little time in Turkey, and I found the overwhelming number
of people, with whom I came into contact to be very kind and helpful.
So based upon my somewhat limited contact and friendship with
People of the Islamic faith, I do believe that the majority of Muslims are indeed good and peaceful.
However, the Quran also preaches Jihad against infidels. Ever
Since the death of Mohamed in 632 AD, the Muslims have been at war
With the West and Infidels. First they conquered the Arabia and then
Invaded Western Europe by invading Spain in 711.the Spaniards fought the invaders from 711 until 1492. Since the. There has been constant conflicts between Muslims and infidels with periods of quite and peace in between.
In short, Islam is not a religion of peace ! It is a religion that
Is mixed with peace loving people, perhaps a large majority, and a large
Number of raiicals who pelieve that the Muslims must conquer , convert, Or kill all Inidels.
Very complex problem for peace loving nations !
In most wars, we knew who the enemy was. We knew the geographical
area of the enemy that we were fighting. Therefore, we were able to defeat them.
How do we defeat large groups of lunatics who dwell within and are dispersed over large populations and wide geographical
Areas ? Who live in all are major cities and are free to practice their
" Religion " and to use free speech and all other Freedoms of peaceful
Nations to destroy those very nations who give them freedoms ?
Indeed Pers, ” Let us Pray "

I don't disagree at all. It is a small number of radical Muslims involved in violence spurred, in part certainly, by the wears invasion of sovereign nations, spurred further by ignorance of western beliefs and finally by financials gains made by those who sponsor war.

You correctly mentioned that many religious zealots, including Christians, have waged war using religious beliefs as their sword.

The world, all religions, need to ban together and fight against hate an injustice wherever it may grow. America and our President remains the becon of freedom, no matter how misunderstood, to most of the world.

This is the 21st Century cross we bear.
