Does the opting out of bowl games drive anyone else crazy? It is the new normal and I understand it, but it just dilutes one of the greatest traditions in sports; the Bowl game. To keep good players engaged, expanding the playoff is the only answer. In the future NIL deals will rule College Football, so will the biggest stars opt out even when they are financially secure? Yes because the NFL still looms. Maybe I am old school, but I love watching the Bowl games, and it’s so annoying that so many good players don’t even care about it. It’s a meaningless game, Throughout College football history, the Bowl game was always a players reward for a great season. Now it’s just something to do, or not do in this case. For the Fiesta Bowl, Kyren Williams and Kyle Hamilton are out. If ND was in the playoffs, both play. So there is the answer, Bowl games need to give the top players incentives to participate.
