Opinion: Dark days ahead for Notre Dame men's basketball

The past 5 seasons have been dark days. A step backward won’t be that far back tbh. The s program needs energy.

I don't disagree...a coach that's hungry and hustles it will eek out a few more wins...
But what's that mean?
Finish at the top of the bottom third? Well shit can't wait for that. Great days are ahead...🙄

People don't want to hear it and I don't like saying it but the ACC is the worst thing for MBB.
Again...the lightning in a bottle season was with elder ckassmen recruited whilst in the big east.

People disagree but the problem is there is nothing that proves otherwise.

Nothing.

It's been doormat city since those big east players caught lightning in a bottle.

Big East is a different league than what it was when ND was holding its own … but quite frankly doing nothing in the post season. ND needs to play more physical basketball inside … there’s no excuse for the play around the basket, that’s not a league problem.

The smart move would be to move the basketball team to another conference like the Missouri Valley.

It's a material problem. Basketball is the most isolated individual "team sport" of major sport.
One person can't take over hockey, football, baseball...but in basketball especially with the way they call the rules now...or rather lack of calling the rules...

While college isn't as bad as the NBA but it's still far less a team game than 10, 20 years ago.
Kids want to be "the guy" or one of " the top guys"
The problem is in the ACC you're selling a kid to come to ND that must match-up against the very best talent in the country.
Again 20 years ago some players welcome that challenge but today....they want the fastest path to the NBA or D-league.

That is not happening at ND and sure the hell isn't happening at ND in the ACC.

But hey....we got the pretty Power conference membership to take it on the chin every year so I guess it was a great move

Anything but the ACC and you better believe it let's us off the hook of playing 5 or 6 ACC teams every year just to be the doormat for MBB

Correct but look what happened to all those MBB teams that filtered into the ACC from the Big East.
Pitt? Sans this year has done what?
B.C....
Syracuse? Made the sweet sixteen 4 times in 10 years since heading to the ACC.
13 and 16 were Big East players
18 and 21 were without.
Twice since 2016?

Syracuse by far did the best moving to the ACC of the Big East teams but it's still not what they were used to seeing.

BB can turn on 1 great player. ND fortunes changed with Tripucka, Dantley, Shumate and Brokow! (3 Jersey kids there!)
NJ -NY was a recruiting goldmine for ND/Digger! The next coach should turn back the clock! But $ changed everything.
