OL Mike McGlinchey returning to Notre Dame in 2017

We should be happy we have a projected first round pick coming back to help breaking in a new qb not arguing they should have left. Quite simply arguing this is to support personal agendas about the program as a whole. No names need be said we see the trends on our board. I just want to have a good season next year and not have to be upset at about 7 pm almost every Saturday in the fall like I was this year. Go Irish.

I have been asked for plenty of advice by many ND/NFL current/past players/others. You can throw Polian/other non players in there too.....
Football related or finance?

so it's all about the program and the fortunes of the young men be damned?

Ask yourself this, if you are sitting across from either, what would be the advice you would give them?

yep: in the end that sums it up!
Worked out pretty well for Zach Martin. Thanks to McG for sticking and being the leader on this tough, dominant offensive line next year! If Nelson ( a first round projection) sticks that will be Kelly's two biggest recruiting hauls! Perse, there are many ND alums who will hire guys who demonstrate that kind of loyalty to Our Lady. Look for Kraemer to make a move and I wonder who will grab the center spot? Adams could have a very very big year if the line comes together. Go get 'em Harry!

These people seeking his advice must most definitely not be aware that their "counselor" is posting cartoons on an anonymous message board. Anybody can fill the role and be what they want on an anonymous message board. Right? I won the Heisman Trophy. It must be true because I said it on a message board.

I can assure you that they would laugh.... Seriously, you just aren't very bright. Now put on your thinking cap and guess where I got some of my fatso stories.....
PS if I posted what players others have said about dopey I would be banned for the language. You'd do well to keep your head in the sand and stay there....

Nice try. You're not the shaker and mover you role play here. You said repeatedly that you were connected with people who were going to make a change in the football program. Predictably, nothing happened. You were part of this idiotic stunt to rid BK through the newspaper or billboards or whatever the hell it was. Predictably, nothing happened. Your insults and cartoons directed at BK are more in line with a high schooler than a mover and shaker. Your vibe that you present through your endless monotonous wrecking ball commentary is that of a immature high schooler, not a mature grown adult. You throw anonymous insults directed at a former Irish QB and new addition to the staff without ever even meeting him. Coward. You never have given advice to any Irish/NFL player. You are not connected. You have never uttered one word towards Digger. If your commenting style was more of a grown adult then some of this might have been halfway believable. As it stands....not so much.

Dumb and a liar too. Impressive!

now see! I was relieved of his constant brain farts! Ask him if he has any idea of recent Kelly interviews? Is there any optimismwarrented to provide relief for ND fans?

Why can't Brian find a job? Are there no takers? ND should get a few more agents involved!

4-8 NCAA probation, vacated wins, regular nationally covered embarrassing behavior, cheating players, arrested players, 38-31, no major bowl wins, interviewing to leave.... I think we are undefeated in the Shamrock Series though....

Ronnie Stanley would have been an end of the first round type OT had he left after his junior year. Like McGlinchey he would have been a late 1st, early 2nd round guy... He returned for his senior year and war the first OT off the board and the #6 overall pick in the draft. Made himself a pretty penny.

The Ravens weren't concerned about Stanley's decision to come back for his senior year.

Zack Martin also returned for a 5th year when he didn't need too. He was in a similar position to Stanley and wound up coming off the board #16 overall and became an All Pro as a rookie...

ND OL under Harry Hiestand have had great success staying in South Bend as long as possible. McGlinchey and Nelson have that same opportunity if they do everything they are suppose to this off season. Could be 2 of the first 4 OL off the board in next year's draft, both in the first round. That would make 4,1st round OL and 1, 2nd round OL (Nick Martin) for Harry in a 5 year period.
Wrong, Stanley was projected top ten after jr year. Selfishly I love it that mm is coming back but it's a stupid business decision. If Nelson was projected 2nd round I can understand his decision. But for mm kinda dumb. Stanley improved 4 slots while risking injury and a years loss of income

Stanley had only 1 year of sig play time. But his decision was still somewhat questionable and definately risky. I don't know how certain or confident Stanley was in the evaluation.

Who are the other tackles coming out in '17 vs the potential list for '18?
MM actually did not have a great year and his rating is more a projection on potential; if his play is not significantly improved then GM's may say well 'what you see is what you get' and he loses that 'potential' label. JMO: he fall out of the 1st round in '18. Nelson is a G and I see him as a top 3 among G's draftee in '17 or '18.

does anyone know what was Zach's '13 draft projection? (edit: got Zack & Nick mixed up)

There is just so much fail in this post, it's unbelievable. Impressive even.

First, Stanley had two full years as a starter under his belt, before he chose to come back for his fourth year (third year as a starter, and a red shirt season as a Frosch).

Second, Stanley was projected as a late first or early second round pick before he chose to come back, although some of valuators apparently had him as high as the top tackle in the draft, even before he chose to come back. But that choice really paid off for him, as he moved into the top 10 and was the top tackle in the draft. Maximizing guaranteed money and enabling himself to produce from the beginning of his Ricky deal, helping to ensure him a max contract on his second deal.

Third, Martin was also projected as a late first two early second round pick, prior to returning for his fifth year. He also did himself a major favor by coming back, for all the same reasons.

All evidence points to you being an idiot, somehow you're just able to stick to your head deep enough into the sand to ignore it. Again, pretty impressive.

It's so hard for a guard to be a top 10 pick. He will get a bump but not that big.

McGlinchey is a tackle all the way, at least naturally.

Although in the NFL, any offense of line men can end up playing either tackle or guard, simply depending on team need an injury situations.

Huh? Stanley started all 13 games as a SO, Jr and Sr....

In approaching the '16 draft was there a single 1st round projected college football playerwho returned to play another year! Early or 5th year?

and

who was the highest drafted 5th year player?

Sure, but that post was responding to someone talking about how Nelson had a chance to go from R2 up into the top 10.

Ryan Kelly went 18th overall out of Alabama
Jonathan Allen will be a top 10 pick this year would have been a R1 prospect last year. Rueben Foster would have been R1 too.
