Please refrain from this is a ND Football board type response as I'm well aware! The reason I pose this question is I'm completely unsold on OSU as an unanimous #1 and repeat champions. Why? Last year they played close games (Penn State), lost a game (VT) and overall play a pretty horrendous schedule! Synonymous with past super bowl winners, NCAA basketball champions it just takes getting hot at the right moment to win it all! Oregon simply forgot how to tackle and kicked field goals instead of touchdowns! In 2015, I think they're offense is blah and their defense is above average. Thoughts?

Again just by 2 cents coming from a ND fan!

Buying.

Last year every one thought they were a year away. With to much young talent.

In the early part of the season they had to gel a new O line. And their only loss came wait for it. The week after playing Navy. Also they were breaking in a new QB.

This year the schedule shapes up nicely. They play the only other ranked B1G East team late in the season when they should be firing on all cylinders. And that is MSU. And they dodge the only other preseason ranked B1G team in the conference in Wisconsin. Until possibly the B1G championship game.

And with the exception of VTECH who they should handle easily this year in a revenge porn type win. Their OOC includes North Illinois Western Michigan and Hawaii. All at home.

Buying. They are the most powerful program now and the crown jewel of the Midwest.

Its sad to think that Meyer could have coached at ND but they just refused to work with him at all.

Total BS revisionist history. This poster is not an ND fan.

Selling, even if they are the most talented team in college and have a top 5 coach I think the odds of them being able to repeat are long.

Buying: one of the top 3 coaches in CF, if not the top. In 2 years he has contended for and Won a NC. He did not reed 5 year plan, he took what he had and coachd the team up. 3 NC's with two different schools. He gets immediate results. Meyer is probably the top recruitor in CF.

Bama or tOSU are the obvious choices for the NC.

Bama has to get by UGA, LSU and AU. Gonna be tough.

Clemson and FSU in the mix.

Again. The NCAA needs to make consistency in the scheduling. However ND being indy will get in the way. But really look at that schedule.

There is no doubt Meyer is a good coach and can attract top talent. I still contend if they had to play Wiscky, MSU along with Michigan every year it would be a different story. They can go game(s) before getting challenged and then cake walk into the B1G championship game. The close games they play is them playing down to the level of their opponents.

I guess that is why they play the games. Hurry up 9/5!

OSU is the argument for ND joining the Big 10 .... look how easy the schedule gets .... ND's schedule would be 10x easier .... just think if all you had to do was beat Mich St and you're undefeated ..... they are a joke .... the Big 10 is a joke

Selling. Teams will be out gunning for OSU this year to make a name for themselves. Like ND, they will have to bring their A-game every week. No way they go start to finish as nr. 1.

You mean the conference that routinely beats ND year in and year out? Good one.

IMO, if you have a QB who is talented (and they have 2+) with talent around him, you are going to win a lot of games. However I think it is way to hard to win back to back.

Do you have any idea what the hell you are talking about. Or do you just talk out your ass all the time?

Buying, but I don't think they will repeat. Takes a lot of luck to win an NC. I will go with the field.

You start following college a few years ago? Or are you just the typical front sighted trendy thing kind of person?

Folks this stuff goes in waves. Hilarious actually. Can anyone remember when the sec was about on par with the current big 10? I can and I'm not old ...compared to a tree. ha ha
But seriously in the 80's the top was the big 8 conference, Miami, Notre dame, Penn state. That was the who is who. Pitt from the mid 70's to early 80's was the class of college.
Where was the sec?
They were not awful but they were not the upper echelon.

Today though they are clicking and everyone acts like nobody else even plays college ball. Ridiculous.

How do you buy on the unanimous #1 and say they won't repeat. The team has so much hype and the bar is set so high anything but a repeat will be disappointing in Columbus this year.

You can buy because the best team in August usually doesn't win the NC. Sometimes, even the best team in January doesn't win it.

Will you please stop with that silliness.

Do they really? Brian Kelly is 10-4 against the Big 10 in five seasons.

ND is 26-20 since 2000. And 10-4 will never get you into the playoff, which was why that poster wanted to go into the big ten, because it was "easy".

Wrong again, half-wit. The 31-0 beating after shooting your mouth off before the game still stings, doesn't it?

Why would that sting? We own the head to head handily, and whooped on ND 38-0, 38-0 and 47-21 since 2000.

Anyway, my point is the big ten isn't easy, and going 10-5 under Kelly shows that.

Ohhh, so you meant the BIG 10 beats ND "routinely" in ONE GAME per season. Now I get it.

The point is made. If ND was in the big ten, they would never make the playoffs, because they would lose 2-4 games per year under BK.

That's simply your opinion, not a result of any point you made. A couple years ago we beat the Big 10 champion who I believe went 12-2 and finished in the Top 5. That doesn't prove anything either.

Look, I am not here to start an argument. I am simply saying the notion that ND should join the big ten because it would be so "easy" is contradicted by ND's record. The big ten is not an easy conference. That is all.

I guess define "easy" because I see 2 Elite team, 3 above average teams and then a bunch of garbage. 4th best conference at best potentially 5th best out of the power 5.

None of the P5 conferences are even remotely easy, by any measurement..

Thats why the P5 conferences are given preference by most though b/c ideally they aren't easy. However, if you get a conference schedule like Wisconsin that is an easy go this year...

Who here said that the Big 10 would be "easy"?
