Now that the Irish Invasion seems to have planted some roots as the premier ND recruiting tool on campus, what are the thoughts about the Irish dabbling into the murky pool of off-campus "satellite" camps (a la Harbaugh and Meeeeeeeeshuuuuggggggun)?
As long as the NCAA is going to allow it, I think the Irish have to strongly consider the possibility. Mind you, I think the on-the-road-dog-and-pony-show borders on sleazy (envision holding a "satellite camp at the #1 recruit on your board's high school field to "highlight" Notre Dame to the area when in fact it is only a "see how much we care about you" ploy to try to swing the recruit in your direction).
I think it also eliminates what really is one of the best selling points of Notre Dame - the campus and total environment that is Notre Dame. The "40-year decision" is a great selling tool but really hits home when you experience the campus.
I think the satellite camps are, regretfully, here to stay. If that is the case, the Irish can't afford not to seriously consider playing this card, especially in SEC and far western US.
