actually he really didn't have that bad of a game overall. Zaire actually was getting his mojo flowing in the third quarter with the bomb for a td to fuller. Also had big runs in that quarter as well he was getting ready to really lead the irish to a blowout win
and virgina was nervous about it because they only answer they had was a questionable tackle. Those kinds of tackles from behind are tought by certain defensive coaches to slow down or hurt players. This is something people don't want to deal with or talk about.

I agree. The irish were up by 12 and ready to steam roll Virginia before Malik's injury. He rushed 87 yards on ten carries with no turnovers.
Malik was inaccurate passing early but did not throw the ball to the other team like Kizer or Golson or Tommy Rees did many times.
Turnover is a four letter word to Malik ! As it should be ! No turnovers in his career !

Has to be competition . Of course ,Kelly will name a starter in Sept. That's what he does .

Kizer had that great pass in the last seconds to win the game against a mediocre Virginia team . And he had a pretty good game against USC. But the games against Temple, Wake Forest , and Boston College were struggles and they shouldn't have been close at all . Was it the play calling or the offensive execution (mistakes)?


My opinion ,Zaire is the better option especially if the ankle is 100% and both (Kizer and Zaire ) are both going to work their tails off .

It seems like anytime Zaire was caught on camera last season - with the exception of Showtime's episode after his injury - Zaire had a huge smile. Whether it was handling the quarterback competition last spring or rebounding from his injury, the kid seems to maintain a positive and competitive outlook. Its hard for me to buy into the idea that a couple weeks of spring football competition has him frustrated. The kid's mentally tough. It seems unfair - and lazy - to dismiss his mental toughness with comments about reading between lines of political correctness. They probably had their stories written before they had any quotes.

What are you talking about is the height but zaire release point is that of a player 6ft4 so that don't matter. also have you seen how big a strong zaire is at 227 kizer doesn't compare there at all. speed wise kizer doesn't win that. winbush is a little faster. Toughness zaire all over.

I just want the best player to win the spot.

Just listend to Mike Frank's Power Hour(great podcast each Monday) and they(Mike and Bill Regan) both think that if decided today that they would go with Kizer. Mike Frank thinks he has the potential to be a top 10 pick if he plays well this season.

After the spring game , wonder what Brian Kelly will do about QB situation . Definitely not a good situation . Kizer looked better in spring game throwing the long ball ,and Zaire was just okay . Can't play an alternating QB offense . Kizer may have more of an upside as a pro prospect because of arm and 6'4" size .

I can see Kizer being the starter and Zaire getting spot play ,but not happy that he may be sitting the bench for next 2 years .Can't see Kizer leaving for the pros after next year unless definitely projected as a first round pick .

Personally ,prefer Zaire because of running ability .

Kelly as a coach and his decision making is going to be challenged .Also the ND quarterback as usual will be scrutinized . Just going over last year we really struggled with mediocre teams( Virginia, BC ,Temple ) and to a lesser degree Pittsburgh and Wake
Forest . How many nail biters are we going to be in against teams we should easily beat? The QB and the coach will take a lot of heat . So who gives us the best shot Zaire or Kizer ?

We lost a lot of talent Stanley, Smith , Martin, Day , Russell, Fuller,Prosise ,all expected to go in the first 3 rounds . Then you have Okwara, Brown who will get looks
. Don't know if we had this much talent going into the NFL draft since the Holtz era ?Domers think we reload ,others say we rebuild and would be happy with 8-4 .
