Going to be interesting to say the least. I think ND can match up well with the run game and containing Elliott (notice I said CONTAIN, not STOP), but it is our secondary that scares me (just like in the Fiesta Bowl in 2006).

Yeah, Ezekiel Elliott is a load!

6', 225
1672 yds.
6.4 yds. av.
19 TD's

Containing him will be a supreme challenge for the ND D

Under Urban Meyer tOSU has won 3 out of 4 bowl/playoff games losing only to Clemson in the Orange Bowl*

Under Brian Kelly Notre Dame has won 4 bowl/playoff games and lost 2, losing only to FSU in the Champs Sports Bowl and to Alabama in the BCS Championship Game.

* In Meyer's first year at tOSU the team was 12&0 but was bowl ineligible.

Both teams have strong Bowl/Playoff records under their present coaches.

Jesus may save your soul, but Touchdown Jesus isn't saving your team. Meyer puts a chip on tOSU's shoulder after missing the playoff, and they play with attitude.

tOSU 35, ND 21

Go Bucks!!

Ya, I'm sure the ND players aren't upset about missing the playoff either. Good news is were getting some sorely missed injured players back, including Jarron Jones, or best player on defense. Ohio State has not played an offense like ours all year. ND has played a hard schedule and these players know how to battle. You're in for a fight.

It will be nice to have Jarron Jones back for him. Being able to rotate that position will be HUGE!

I think the combination of Barrett and Elliott will shred Notre Dame's defense even with JJones in the lineup.

I like getting J.Jones back, but having missed the whole season - would be shocked at how effective he is. We all saw how ineffective K.Russell was for the first few games - finally made some big time plays vs. SC in week 7 ? I wouldn't expect J.Jones to be huge difference maker for his first game back. Hope I'm wrong. Plus Tillery played pretty dam good vs Stanford. He's looking like a true big time player.

As for the score - Urban is the best in the business IMO - BK is good, but Urban is one of the best if not the best in getting his team ready to play. Ohio St will bring great intensity - they dominated Oregon and Bama last year in those bowl games - when Urban has 30 days to prepare he will have a great great game plan for ND and his players will be emotionally fired up to kick ND's arse big time. They will play w/ a serious chip on their shoulder.

ND will have to bring its A game and will not be able to overcome Turnovers - And they need to convert on TD's in the red zone and not Field goals. And lastly ND will need to surpass or be able to at least match OSU's intensity - not sure if ND players and staff can get our boys to play ball w/ a serious chip on their shoulder like OSU will have - the coaches will have to figure out how to do that.

Final score - ND 27 OSU 24 (Banking on BK coming up w/ a great game plan and the ND boys finding a big time chip on their shoulders to match OSU's intensity)

A nail biter to the very end.

ND 11 OSU 10 - Kelly goes for two early for an 8-7 first half advantage - Poon hits a 53 yard FG to finish off the bucks with 3 seconds left.

Well, at least your coach will have his mind on the game instead of the concession stand, so there's that...

I look for ND to sell-out on stopping Elliott and make J.T. beat them through the air. Nice to have J.Jones back as an extra run stuffer. OSU has a great defense so this could be a fairly low scoring affair:

ND - 31
OSU - 27

A win over OSU would almost guarantee a top 5 finish for ND.

I think the month + rest will do wonders for the Irish who are all banged up.
People forget we have three Olineman who have been playing with high ankle sprains. They still have done great. I expect the Irish to run the ball with Adams, Prosise, Kizer and Dexter Williams to move the chains and rest our maligned defense kind of like last years LSU game. With a couple of bombs to Fuller, a couple of dumpoffs to Carlisle and Hunter and a few passes down the middle to Durham Symthe and Corey Robinson. And Chris Brown will make a nice catch or two being in his last game as a nd player.
Jaylon Smith will mirror O States best player and the Dline with Sheldon Day, Jarron Jones, Jerry Tillery, Isaac Rochelle, Daniel Cage, Bonner, Trumbetti and Okwara will wreak havoc all night in Ohio States backfield.
With all that said--Ohio State is a great team and will make plays.

I don't predict anymore (too upsetting to IrishJack) but I FORSEE a
37 to 35 Irish victory with Justin Yoon kicking a 48 yard field goal as time expires !

Also of note Coach Kelly has the team go for two when the Irish are down 35 to 32 to make it 34 to 35 before the game winning kick (Buguit starts a thread early berating Coach Kelly for using his card again and he keeps arguing about the call even after the ND victory.
Many fights break out on this board the night we should be celebrating the Irish victory. Should Kelly have gone for two when a extra point kick puts us within two points anyway?---to most it doesn't make sense but the Irish actually win despite of it. Coach Kellys genius pays off!!

Just because Elliot shredded Meatchickens defense to well over 200 yards doesn't mean they will do it to ND. Remember, we did keep the Heisman candidate Mcaffey (sp?) to under 100 yards.

Uhhhh, yeah....we're going to need your stapler back Ohio.....

The "t" was introduced to help stop people from confusing Ohio State from Ohio University. Ohio State is the huge school that is good at football. Ohio University is the average sized school that is good at being a university.

I'm sure Jaylon Smith, you know the All American Butkus award wining linebacker, might have something to say about that.

Actually Ohio State's middle LB Raekwon McMillian is not too bad also. I believe he finished 1 spot ahead of Smith in tackles this year, he might have something to say about the game along with a guy named Bosa.

So your prediction is 51-16 and over 260 yards rushing also lol? Wow, are these bucknut fans deliriously funny!
No, I just said we will see. I'm thinking more like 35 - 21/24 OSU, and I could see Elliot getting 150+. But we'll see...

Ok, I can accept that. I don't think anyone has rushed that many yards on ND but if anyone could it would be Elliot. I'm thinking the score will be ND 35 OSU 27. OSU has not seen an offense like ND's this year. It will come down to who's secondary plays the best.

I'm not the one predicting 260+ yards from one player either.

Always comes down to the lines. Kizer needs time/protection....Elliot needs holes.

I think the Notre Dame vs Ohio State game will be very interesting. I think OSU will win but the Irish will keep it close. MSU knocked all of the complacency out of the Buckeyes so I think they'll be highly motivated and focused.

Congrats Sparty! Not taking anything away from your OSU win because I hope you win it all, but that was the worst Meyer coached game I've ever seen!

After reading I'm beginning to think which ever team rushes the ball the most will win.

Also, in spite of these lofty score predictions it could very well turn out to be a low scoring game.

see butkus award.

True story: Last year tOSU beat three Heisman finalists (including the Heisman winner) in the postseason. Individual awards mean little in this context.
kybuck, do you think bosa will try to line up against stanley ? i'll be curious.

I'm not familiar with your personnel, but tOSU moves Bosa all around: inside, outside, right, left. He'll probably be lined up over everyone except your center at some point in the game.
