Same song, different ball game.
I guess my question is... Has ND shot those percentages against a team with the length of UK? UK is 2nd in the country in defensive 3 point percentage at 26.7%. Our overall FG percentage is 1st at 34.8%, so not much better. Our starting 5 are 6''6", 6'6", 6'10", 7'0" & 7'1". The first 4 off the bench are 6'6", 5'9", 6'9" & 7'0". Your shooters are not only going to have to shoot over long athletic guys but try to deal with that size on the defensive end.Originally posted by theboat:
We can all play the "stats game". UK hasn't played a team that shoots the ball as well as ND...that's a fact (58% 2pt / 38% 3pt) The 2 teams that were anywhere close to ND gave UK problems. Vandy was within 4 with 2 minutes to play and it took 2 OT's to put A&M away. Now, I'm not saying ND will win, but anyone can find stats that show team A can't beat team B because of some stat. Any team can win or lose on any given night regardless of who they're playing....that's why they play the game.
He is saying UK is undefeated and close game victories are no less victories.Originally posted by theboat:
Lyles played in both the OT games and missed a couple of the other games. Are you saying Kentucky is a "one trick pony"?
I keep hearing how deep they are...apparently, according to you, they're one player away from losing. I'll shoot a text off to Brey right away...

Anything can happen, but ND is not going to win unless someone in the kitchen of Kentucky's hotel has arranged for them to get a mild case of food poisoning.Originally posted by jrpross:
Hey Irish fans!
My official guess is UK 77-65. I say this because I feel like Kentucky was extremely focused defensively the lay few games. Notre Dame is an awesome offensive team but one of the best things kentucky does is defend. Every time you set a screen, someone (often Cauley Stein) picks up the man on the other side and he is quick enough to guard even point guards. So open shots are extremely rare. In addition, their offense was really clicking against WVU. They scored 78 but it could have been more. Wvu ran the shot clock down almost every possession, taking up a lot of time.
That being said, nothing is impossible. Kentucky has had a few games this year where the offense wasn't so hot; not moving the ball around well missing easy layups. If they have a night like that and the Irish are hitting the contested shots, they definitely hve a chance. I want to see my boys hit 40-0 but if we gotta lose to someone, I'd rather it be you guys than Duke or Louisville. So just promise me if you win you don't let either of them win it all
No, I was saying they're unbeaten, but not unbeatable.Originally posted by LmdCat:

Unlike some who self appoint their team as America's team, UK's team would never suggest that they are unbeatable, so I am uncertain why you mentioned unbeatable. Most knowledgeable basketball fans are fully aware that in a one-and-done tourney, anything is possible.Originally posted by theboat:

Well, then Kentucky fans are the least knowledgeable fans in the country. I've visited the UK forums. The general consensus is ND will lose by 20 -30 points....and yes, most UK fans think they are unbeatable.Unlike some who self appoint their team as America's team, UK's team would never suggest that they are unbeatable, so I am uncertain why you mentioned unbeatable. Try reading my post just a little slower. It could improve your reading comprehension. There is a big difference between believing your team will win a game and believing your team is unbeatable. I don't believe you have seen a single post on UK's site that said the team was unbeatable.Originally posted by theboat:
