Notre Dame-Michigan State Predictions

I always expect a hard fought close game when playing MSU under Dantonio. This week is no different. We know they will try to stuff the running game and force us to throw against aggressive man to man coverage. This will be a great test to see how good our offensive line really is, and a good measuring stick for our running game. Most of us think we stumbled against an elite defensive front seven against Georgia, and excelled against two teams who played really good defense the past few years in Temple and BC. Week four will start to validate or invalidate these views, starting with our play against MSU. I just want a win, but as for predictions, I think we win and barely cover the spread of four points....something along the lines of 24-17.
How are you making out after your surgery? How much would a ND win Sat. night help you with your recovery ?

Doing fine, just can't put weight on that side so have to use crutches for six weeks. The BC game the first full day home was medicinal, and a win Sat night against MSU will do wonders, and get me thinking 5-1 against an undefeated USC. Thanks for asking.

Don't know if you guys watch BTN Live, but they talked a bit about our game. One guy said Kelly vs Dantonio will be somewhat of a chess match and wouldn't be surprised if ND came out in a spread pass look. What do you think about that?

Only if it is pouring rain. Spread would be a mistake in my opinion. ND needs to establish the run game.

I'd give Kelly a 50-50 in a checkers match, not more than a one in 10 shot in a chess match.

I don't have a clue how good Michigan State is this year. They do have a better coach and they play at home, so I'll say they win 27-24. If our quarterback learns how to pass and our receivers learn how to run routes, then we win, but I don't see any sign of improvement after three games, so I doubt we will see much throughout the season.

Predictions are FOR FUN!
  • Nobody cares about your prediction once the game is over!
  • You can always change your prediction.
  • Your prediction will NOT JINX anything.
  • Saying "I never make any predictions" really means you're no fun!
  • Feel free to elaborate with your predictions. That just makes it more fun!
It's EASY AND FUN so here goes:

ND QB BW seems to have gained some confidence...........both running the ball and passing. At this stage MSU is an unknown but the talk is the MSU QB is pretty athletic himself. Both teams will try to run / stuff the run. MSU will try to take a page out of the Georgia defensive playbook.

Have a feeling the team with the best passing game wins and MSU has the home field advantage.

MSU 31, ND 30
If I'm being honest . I don't see ND winning any big games until the current admin changes. I usually go with my heart but, not today. ND will lose to MSU, USC , STANFORD, N. Carolina and one more. I hope I am wrong I really do If ND. Beats MSU I will change my tune. I think Kelly is over his head. But, he will get one more year of he wins six games.

I think whatever team can hit downfield passes will win. Both teams will look to establish the run with young QBs that are talented but not yet proficient passers. Special teams I have a feeling will be important.
