Blue & Gold Illustrated was in Los Angeles for the Rivals Camp Series on Sunday. There were plenty of Notre Dame targets on hand, and there were plenty of recruiting updates to be had. Here's a quick view from the sidelines...

Alloway Likes Irish, But Size A Concern
Fontana (Calif.) Summit Rivals100 athlete Damian Alloway might be small, but he can play. Alloway, who was visited by Notre Dame's Mike Sanford last week, was named the camp's overall "athlete" MVP after he used his speed to fly past defenders in one-on-ones.

Notre Dame likes Alloway in the slot, but is concerned about his size. He checked into the camp at 5-8, 165-pounds, which probably didn't help his case, but he did mention that he likes Notre Dame, and is hoping to land a scholarship offer.

"Notre Dame and Oregon ... I have always been telling everybody that if I get those offers it will broaden my list. I feel [that the offer from Notre Dame] is coming. Once I get that one, it's going to shoot right up to the top. I'm really going to start talking to the coaches and get a feel for them," Alloway said.

Alloway said that UCLA and California are the two schools that have offered and standout at the moment.

Notre Dame Pays 5-star LB A Visit
Irish associate head coach Mike Denbrock was in the Fresno area on Saturday for one reason: to see Clovis West five-star linebacker Caleb Kelly workout.

Kelly, who is ranked as the No. 1 prospect in California, said that he’s locked into the Irish Invasion in June following the visit from Denbrock, and that he likes where Notre Dame stands at this stage in his recruitment.

“Lately they have been coming on stronger than they have been before,” Kelly said. “[Notre Dame] is a big name school, but it’s also a small community over there. Players want a family feel, and I want that too.”

Kelly named a Top 10 of TCU, Notre Dame, Alabama, Washington, UCLA, Oklahoma, Florida State, Oregon, Michigan and LSU back in March, but said that he’s planning to rearrange the list soon.

When asked if the Irish would make the cut, Kelly just laughed.

"Yeah," he said with a smile.

BVG To See Lamar Jackson
Elk Grove (Calif.) Franklin three-star safety Lamar Jackson doesn't hold a Notre Dame scholarship offer, but he thinks one is on the way. Jackson, who will receive a bump in the next edition of the Rivals rankings, said that Irish offensive coordinator Mike Sanford was at his school last week, and that defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder will by before the end of May.

"We have been staying in contact through [direct messages] and he said an offer is coming soon," Jackson said when asked about Sanford. "I feel like they definitely are going to offer. He said it's coming, I respect that. I'm just waiting on it. I like them a lot -- Notre Dame is one of the top programs in the country, as well."

Jackson was offered by Oregon on Saturday and is also hearing from Alabama. He's ranked at the No. 79 prospect in California.

Jagger High On Notre Dame
Roseville (Calif.) High's Jimmy Jaggers isn't ranked yet, but the offers are starting to roll in for the rising junior. The 6-3, 237-pound tight end has picked up bids from Northwestern, Utah and Michigan, and while the interest is nice, one school might already have the inside track for his service

Jaggers' father was sporting a Notre Dame hat at the camp on Sunday, and the tight end explained that's because the family is high on the Irish.

"Notre Dame is coming out this week," Jaggers said. "It would mean a lot [if they offered] there's a lot of good tight ends that have came out of there."

USC Commit Open To Irish
Fontana (Calif.) Summit four-star running back Stephen Carr committed to USC back in March, but the class of 2017 prospect said on Sunday that he's not ready to close the door on other schools, just yet.

Notre Dame offensive coordinator Mike Sanford was at Summit High on Thursday and asking questions about the running back.

"I have some interest in them," Carr said. "It's a big program and I have a lot of family that's fans of Notre Dame."

Names To Ax
While Sunday provided a chance to catch up with a lot of prospects that Notre Dame is currently chasing, it also provided an opportunity to find out who isn't on the board anymore. UCLA linebackers commits Lokeni Toailoa, Krys Barnes and Breland Brandt all said they haven't had any recent contact with the Irish. The same can be said about four-star wideout Dylan Crawford and four-star cornerback Byron Murphy.

Random Nuggets
- Notre Dame will be at Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra High next week to watch three-star Arizona quarterback commit Khalil Tate throw, but he won't be the only prospect on hand. CJ Pollard, is a four-star defensive back at Serra, and one of the top defensive backs in the area. He said that he's open to the Irish despite being a USC-lean at the time.

- At one time San Marcos (Calif.) Mission Hills quarterback Dakota Miller was hearing from Notre Dame, but that's no longer the case. Miller said that the Irish might come by this spring when his school starts practice on May 21, but the coaches have backed off following three-star cornerback Troy Warner's commitment to Oregon.

- Notre Dame 2015 signee Equanimeous St. Brown was on hand to watch his brothers Osiris St. Brown and Armon-Ra St. Brown work out. The wide receiver said the has put on 5 pounds and is looking to add more weight before he enrolls on June 11. It should also be noted that his father was decked out in Notre Dame gear.
