Jerod called his trip to Notre Dame a much-needed visit. Their father made the trip with them. Notre Dame answered some of the questions they had. Jerod wanted to learn more about ND's strength and conditioning and was impressed with what director of football performance Matt Balis is doing.
The January visit was fun, Jerod said. But this most recent visit was business. “We had about five hours of meetings.”
The Smiths are working on lining up an official visit date. Jerod said he wants to get to know the players more on that visit. He also plans to take official visits to Alabama and Michigan. They're working to figure out which other schools they may make an official visit to.
What things will play the biggest role in Jerod's eventual decision? Academics, how they’re going to develop us to the next level, how they coach their players. The history of the program is important. What type of players do they put in the league? Coaching style, defensive style — all that.”
